May 10, 2017 - Third day at Fort De Soto

The lighthouse intrigued me so much that I convinced Pauline and Cynthia to come with me to Egmont Key to see it and find out what else is there. I showed them the brochure and we learned that it is a National Wildlife Refuge site and that Fort Dade was there to help defend Tampa in the Spanish American War. We were involved with the ferry ride and walking about 5 miles on the island from 9:30 until 3 PM and it wore me out so that I didn't do anything else today! Pauline and Cynthia took their dogs to the dog beach and waded in the water...
