Aug 9, 2020 - Geocache

We found about this scavenger hunt type game called Geocache. Its downloaded to your phone and identifies locations where people have hidden containers near you. Containers can be small (1 inch diameter by one or two inches), some medium and others quite large. When locating these you get points. Some people even put bling in them. But if you take the bling you have to put new stuff in. Even though the phone locates them via GPS, they can be ingeniously hidden. Locations show up a green icons,, then change to happy faces when found.. Keeps...

Jul 23, 2020 - Anniversary, Birthday and Rain

July is here and another month passes here in rainy hot Florida. Seems it rains just about every day in the summer here. We have not done a thing here except drive to Walmart to pick our pre-ordered groceries. Order online and then show up while they load up the groceries in the parking lot. However, we do continue to watch movies and series on the tv and do walks and cricket rides in the RV Park when it doesn't rain. We celebrated our 18th wedding anniversary on the 14th by eating tiramisu and lounging. Also I got a new shirt and a carrot...

Jun 10, 2020 - Heat, Fire and Oil Changes

Summer in Florida is hot and humid. It's also the rainy season. Been in the 90s and wet. There was a fire at the storage yard here. Probably a lightning strike. A few storage buildings hit and some heat damage to a couple RVs parked near by. 4am and we didnt even hear firetrucks. We are on the other side of the park. So, no issues for us. Time for our annual oil change on the bus at Cummins. Had to pack up again and drive to Orlando to change the oil and filters. Always expensive. At least they have overnight parking adjacent to a lake.....

May 24, 2020 - Davenport Stay

Originally, we were going to be at Dollywood in Pidgeon Forge, then on our way to Fargo, Clearwater, MN and Boise ID, but here we remain at Rainbow Chase RV in Florida. Many places throughout the country are closed and we are allowed to remain here at summer rates ($200 per month plus electric). Very few people are here; just the folks who live here year round. We walk most every day, watch series' on the Fire Stick and play games via Facetime with the grand kids. Watched Madam Secretary, Victoria and The Crown so far. All excellent...

May 20, 2020 - May Stuff

As summer gets ready to hit, 90s degree temps and high humidity starts kicking in for Central Florida. Been walking between 3 and 6 miles a day (mornings and early evenings), when it's still relatively cooler. Mary made some cool face masks and we even started coloring. Still on lock down even though the Governor of Florida has eased restrictions. Finished watching all the seasons of Madam Secretary and began the series Victoria. Both are awesome shows.

Apr 30, 2020 - Repairs and Condo and Road Trip

So, Lazy Days claimed they fixed the air conditioner. Got the rig back and ran the air for a couple hours. Then the Electric system module showed an error message and the major systems dont work. After doing diagnostic stuff we returned to Lazy Days to see if they broke our electric system putting the new air conditioner on. Found out there is a broken part. Of course it had to be ordered. Since its 80s and 90s out, staying in a non conditioned bus isnt possible. We found a nearby condo to rent for 5 days. Not a bad rate since it's pretty...

Apr 10, 2020 - Shelter in place

Due to the Virus, we are here in Florida until things change. No reason to move around since it's risky and most RV parks are closed. We are comfortable here and no new people are allowed in. Days are made up with us, walking, biking, riding the cricket in the park, binge watching Madam Secretary and distance visiting friends.Luckily, the Schwans Guy comes by regularly. We get food stuff from them. (Like the Helms Bakery Truck from the 50s and 60s). HVAC unit busted so went to Dealership near Tampa. Been 90s, so its essential. Got some...

Mar 22, 2020 - Change of plans

With the presence of the virus we have decided to revise our travel plans for the summer. Many parks and resorts are closing. There is uncertainty as to if any of our planned stops will be open when we get there. Rather than risk spending thousands of dollars on fuel, only to possibly be stranded, we believe it's best to stay put here in Florida. We have been careful and maintained our distance from others. Just found out one of our neighbors has the virus and unfortunately, many of our friends had been in close quarters with them. No...

Feb 22, 2020 - Grandkids and Disney

John, Amanda, Anna and Sara came out to visit and see the sights of Central Florida. They rented a great place near Disney that has a pool for the kids. Headed to the Magic Kingdom for the Peter Pan ride, Haunted Mansion, Jungle Cruise, Pirates of the Caribbean, visited Tom Sawyer Island, Tea Cups and an autograph session with the Little Mermaid. After a day of rest, we headed to EPCOT. Rode up in the "ball"; Spaceship Earth, that chronicles communication from cave drawings to the present. Then off to see Dory and Nemo Under the Sea. Next...

Feb 16, 2020 - Superbowl, Trains, Concert

Started off with our annual Superbowl Party. We really didnt care much which team won, but we had fun. Did not win any money or prizes, but we did have tons of food, drink and fellowship with our friends here at Rainbow Chase. Been playing lots of cards. Hand and Foot is a canasta type game. Was never a card person, but we love this game. Between 4 and 8 people play. Another pot luck dinner and then a breakfast buffet. Probably eating too much, but we started going back to the gym. Mary is doing cardio and Jim is doing cardio and weights....

Jan 28, 2020 - Parties, Disney and Bands

Just the usual stuff here. Dinners, pot lucks, Potato and Band Event, Disney and Birthday Party, Darts and Cards. Potato party included a loaded baked potato or a yam, and a 3 piece band. Good eats and plenty of dancing. They had a Birthday Party for everybody. Sat at a table with people that have the same birth month, are weenies and sloppy Joe's and ate birthday cake.

Jan 1, 2020 - Welcome to the 20s

As we greet the new year, it's hard to believe we are entering the roaring 20s. Hope you all have a great and rewarding year. We have been darting (we bought darts at the flea market), had lunch at Macaroni Grill with our friends and neighbors; Lyle and Sandy, and Ice Cream Social. Always something do do here at Rainbow Chase. Visited friends Rick and Bev and their daughter Kiva from Boston who were vacationing in St. Augustine. It was a beautiful day in the mid 80s. Always fun to see the old Ponce De Leon Hotel (now Flagler College), the...
