Dec 18, 2017 - Crestview FL

Mon, 18 Dec: Another day on the road... It was a fairly noisy nite at the Gulfport Wal*Mart. We started out in a quiet area but during the nite a reefer truck parked nearby with its cooling unit running. Some of the cooling units run continuously, which produces a sort of white noise. Others cycle on and off as needed, which create a nuisance. We ended up with the latter type. We got a fairly late start, rolling wheels about half past nine. No particular reason, just plain laziness. Our first "leg" was a short one, 36 miles to a...

2017 Travels

Sep 17, 2017 - Crestview, Fl

It was a pretty uneventful travel day from Jennings, La to Crestview, Fl. I do have to say after so many months in the Rockies, it is nice to see open water. Coming across I-10 gas has varied in price from $2.19 to $2.69. But we did not encounter any stations today without gasoline. Lots of the folks headed down the highway are obviously contractors/construction workers headed to Fl. The hotel we are in tonight has 6 rooms that have been rented by a single building contractor. The hotel is a Stay Suites, obviously previously a Hilton...

Feb 21, 2017 - New Florida residents!

Warning – this blog post is all about why and how we changed our residency from Alabama to Florida – this may not be of interest to everybody! For the last 40 years of my life I have been a resident of Alabama and Steve has been an Alabama resident for a total of 45 years. Well today, that changed and we are now officially Florida residents! This is nothing against the great state of Alabama and we have lots of friends and family there. The decision to change had everything to do with what would be better for our lifestyle as fulltime...

2017 Life in our RV

Feb 24, 2016 - Clearview, FL

Wed, 24 Feb: Following the storm, a long-ish day... As described in yesterday's post, the storms cleared the north lake area by bedtime last evening so we were able to sleep without worry. That said, we awoke to winds that were rocking the coach and driving wind chills to uncomfortable levels. Motorhomes are not very well insulated so windy conditions really tax the heating system. We took our time getting ready as the winds were forecast to settle down as the day progressed. We weren't too worried about driving in these winds as they were...

Nov 6, 2012 - Get out the vote

We left Shirley's truck at Collins' house and headed off to Crestview FL so we could vote. Crestview is our official residence even though we only have a PO box. We picked up our mail and headed for the Super Walmart. There were seven of us overnighters. We got to the polls about 10 to 7. We had a few problems with getting our ballot but the folks were very nice and our ballots were delivered by hand. We voted and are on our way back to Dothan AL to pick up the truck then to Griffin GA to drop the rig at Darci's and hopefully to SC tonight....
