Jul 5, 2019 - LAKE LOUISA

We are camping at Lake Louisa north of Clermont, Florida for the night, we arrived around 3 p.m. and set up camp. Took off to do some Geocaching just down the road from the state park. Got to the first container and the rains started to come down in buckets, waited around for about 1/2 hour. the rain did not stop. We did not want to try to go geocaching with all the water in the ditches and on the dirt road that turned to mud. Went back to the state park to check out the place between the rain drops. Found the place on the lake where a WWII...

Jan 1, 2019 - Clermont, Florida

After our excellent stay in Crawfordville, we spent an easy day moving to Bee’s RV Resort in Clermont, FL, for our Christmas and New Year’s celebrations. We spent two days washing clothes and cleaning house in preparation for receiving our son, Jon, Jr. (aka, Jonnie to the family) who would stay until New Year’s Day. As our friends who have been following us for the past 14 years know, he comes from his home in Tucson, AZ, to wherever we are in the world for the Holidays. Christmas Day, the three of us opened the presents from each other...

Dec 19, 2017 - Clermont attractions

This afternoon, I drove about 30 miles north to find some letterboxes and see some different sites. I had been to Lake Louisa State Park before - even camped there in 2010, but this time I went to a remote area and walked on an equestrian and hiking trail near Bear Lake at the back end of the park. I really liked what I saw but it's not enough to come back with my kayak this week. I found the letterbox but it didn't have anything to do with the park. Then I went to the Citrus Tower to get another letterbox and see what that is all about....

Dec 3, 2017 - Back to the RV

Visiting over, it was time to head back to the RV for some much needed kitty hugs and, of course, laundry. As I was taking the kitty for a walk, the neighbor lady came over to tell me that she had seen a turtle dig a nest and bury her eggs in back of our trailer. I was sorry to have missed that! As we chatted, we suddenly realized that we were both standing in red ants, tiny little things, but quite painful as they bit us both. Needless to say, our conversation was abruptly terminated. That night Don barbecued steaks for our dinner, with...

Nov 25, 2017 - An Unexpected Visit

This day saw us heading back to our RV to check on the kitty and get our laundry done again. I had been talking with a previous co-worker over the internet who had retired, sold everything they owned and become full time RVers. We had worked together when I was at MasterDrive in Colorado Springs. Since they spend their winters in Florida to be near their grandchildren, and were very near to our campground, we were able tp get together for lunch at the Cracker Barrel in Clermont. It turned out to be a fairly long lunch as we talked about...

Nov 21, 2017 - Florida

After dismantling and gradually stepping down from our perch at brother Ron's house, it was time to continue south to Florida. Our first day of travel was not too bad; we were able to avoid Atlanta traffic for the most part, then it was interstate nearly all the way. We spent one night in Valdosta, Georgia and woke up to 30 degree temperatures. The cold and rain continued to follow us south. The next day was a short one. Since this was a resort we had been in before, it was easy to find. We observed quite a lot of new building in the area....

Apr 26, 2016 - Yesenia and Jeff

It was just a short drive on I-4 to Lake Magic RV Resort about 15 miles south of Clermont. Our principal reason for stopping here was to visit with our son, Jeff, and his girlfriend, Yesenia Ruiz. Both are professional musicians - Jeff as a composer and pianist and Yesenia as a singer. On Friday night we drove to the Villages where Yesenia was performing with TC and SASS, a cover band, at Lake Sumter Landing Market Square. Despite some on and off rain we had a great time. Sue, although still recovering from hip bursitis, danced and was...

Apr 12, 2016 - Clermont, FL - Thousand Trails Orlando

3/29/16 thru 4/12/15 Clermont, FL We finally made it into the Orlando Thousand Trails Resort in Clermont, FL. On our two previous attempts this season we ended up in two different overflow parks; once in Clerbrook in Clermont and the next time in Crystal Isles in Crystal River. The Orlando Park is one of the most popular Thousand Trails parks in Florida with 850 sites, all with full hook-ups and a full array of amenities. Even though we are here at the end of the season, the park seemed full. The mystery was quickly solved when we...

Feb 23, 2016 - Clermont, FL - Clerbrook Golf & RV Resort

1/12/16 thru 2/23/16 Clermont, FL We tried to make our next stop the Orlando Thousand Trails Preserve in Clermont, FL but that park was booked solid. Thousand Trails gave us a choice of staying at a few of their local Encore parks at the Thousand Trails rate (free). Equity Life Style Properties (ELS) owns all 170 Encore RV Parks, 82 of which are Thousand Trails parks. Encore parks are public parks that focus on extended stays, either seasonal or annual. Most Encore parks have a small group of RV sites allocated to Thousand Trails. The...

Dec 15, 2015 - McDonough to Florida

After saying our good byes the night before, we got loaded up to head south to Florida. The original plan was to spend the first night at a state park just over the border into Florida. But a storm was coming in. We stayed just ahead of it, according to my radar app, so kept going until we reached Lake City, Florida, where we stayed in a nice little RV park. Our drive was not as long to our destination the next day so we slept in a bit and got a leisurely start the next morning. Our ultimate goal was to visit my cousin Carol and husband...

Feb 16, 2015 - Our stay at 3 Clermont RV Parks

January 5 thru February 16, 2015 Arrived at Orlando Thousand Trails in Clermont to enjoy two weeks of line dancing for Pat and some walking for Ralph and to explore the area. We went to see our dermatologist for a checkup on Jan 8th for both of us. Pat had a dark spot on her forehead for years but the Dr. wanted to take it off and have it checked out. So we went back the next week and she had it taken off. Then she was told no exercise until the next week when he took the stitches out. She ended up with a swollen forehead and headache. It...

Jan 6, 2015 - Clermont, FL

Today we head off to Thousand Trails Orlando, located in Clermont, Fl. Altho this isn't our favorite park, we still have a few weeks stay already paid for in the Thousand Trails system. Since their online reservation system never shows and available sites, this will probably be our last Thousand Trails stay. Again it's only a short 190 mile ride but going through the heart of "Mouse Territory" and the accompanying congestion makes the trip seem longer. Other than Marley being upset every night by the sound of the Disney fireworks and the...
