Mar 8, 2018 - The Forgotten Coast

3-8-2018 February 28 was the end of our stay at Camp Gulf RV Resort in Miramar Beach FL. We drove about 2 hours back down route 98 and pulled into Presnell's Bayside Marina and RV Resort in Port Saint Joe. This is a cute small town located on Saint Joe's Bay. From the camp ground Prenelle's RV and Marina we face due west and see spectacular sunsets every night. We have enjoyed all the fishermen coming and going from our small marina. A lot of the Rv’ers have been enjoying the calmness of the bay on their kayaks. We also enjoy seeing all the...

Apr 28, 2016 - Summerdale, AL to Carrabelle, FL

Well, almost $2,000 later, we got our truck back in 1 day. The air conditioning compressor blew up & contaminated the system. Ugh! Just thankful we're able to head on down the coast this morning. We woke to the sound of thunder & it started to sprinkle as we finished hooking up so we thought our luck of missing the rain had ended. But all we had was sprinkles & we were out of that as we left Rainbow Plantation - our luck is still holding. We did have gray skies most of the day but can't complain. We decided not to take the freeway but to...

Apr 27, 2016 - Letterboxing near Carrabelle

I remember this town from 10 years ago when I started my first RV trip across the country. The campground I stayed at is still there but upgraded and no longer a member of Passport America, so I am staying at a new campground off the main road and it is quiet and nice. Having gotten here in the middle of the afternoon, walked around the campground viewing the two pools and 3 lookout towers from which to watch sunsets over the gulf. I decided to go after 3 letterboxes in the area. Again, I am happy that I got to visit 3 places I never would...

Apr 18, 2016 - Roadie at Carabelle Beach, FL

2016-04-18. Carrabelle Beach Florida We are on the Florida panhandle or rather the “bend” as the locals say. We had planned to go to Destin, FL to stay but, they wanted $136.00 per night at the RV park. Are you kidding me? So, we decided to stay south of Tallahassee at Carrabelle Beach and we are glad we did. First, the RV Park, Carrabelle Beach RV Resort is exactly that; a resort with long and wide concrete pads, full hook ups, and beautifully landscaped islands between each site. The roses were in full bloom which added to the beauty and...

Feb 12, 2015 - Ho Hum RV Park, Carrabelle, FL

2/12 - 2/15/2015 (3 nights) Ho Hum RV Park in Carrabelle, FL was about a 5 hour drive from Tampa, FL. We took Hwy 75, SR50, & Hwy 19. Stopped at Fort Fanning and the Suwannee River for a picnic lunch …ham sandwich, milk, chips, & pie and listened to Stephen Foster’s Suwannee River and other songs on the Mac. A very pleasant way to sit back and enjoy a little bit of history about Stephen Foster and his music. We arrived at Ho Hum RV Part around 4 pm, checked in at site 10 and went back to the office to see if we could get a gulf view site....

Jul 22, 2014 - Finally in Florida

After Hattiesburg MS, we traveled to Mobile AL and stayed at Meaher State Park on the causeway. We were here 5 years ago and enjoyed it. Stayed 4 days and saw former FL neighbors Rozalyn and Dave. We went to dinner in a great place in Fairhope, then Roz and I spent a "girl day" in Foley AL. We had rain, which kept the temps down, but not the humidity. Note the sign in the picture, to not feed or agitate the gators. Yep we are back in the south. We finally made it to Florida after 20 days. We are on the Apalachicola Bay at a campground on...

Feb 27, 2014 - Ho Hum RV Park

Our first stop after leaving Pensacola was Ho Hum RV park in Carrabelle Florida, we stayed here two years ago on our way to Walt Disney World (WDW), umm must be an omen. We were greeted with a smooth as glass Gulf of Mexico and an extremely beautiful sunset, the mirror reflection of the sky and land made for very unusual pictures, a one of a kind sunset.

Dec 19, 2013 - Carrabelle, FL

Thu, 19 Dec: Up at our leisure and a relaxing morning and get ready for the road. We didn't need to dump or water up, so getting ready was simplified somewhat. We got things stowed, went thru our checklists, hooked up the car, and pulled out of the RV park at 0915. At Orrin's recommendation we didn't take US 19 north due to the traffic and many, many lites. Rather, he recommended County Road 1 north where it eventually merges with 19 north of all the congestion. Good call Orrin and thanks... We took US 19 all the way north thru many towns...

Mar 24, 2013 - Still in Florida!

We're Still Here Since it's been over a month I thought I would just write a few lines to let anyone who cares know that we are still alive and kicking. That really should read vegetating, if I wanted to be totally accurate. We've been kind of meandering north out of Florida and haven't yet made it all the way. Another week or 2 should do the trick. We are parked at the Ho Hum RV Park in Carrabelle, Florida, right on the Gulf Coast just after it swings west. The park sounds better than the reality has proven. It is right on the Gulf, but...

Mar 11, 2013 - Off to the Panhandle

We headed off to Carrabelle, Florida on the panhandle near Apalachicola. We'll be at Carrabelle Beach RV Resort fot the next 2 weeks for some work. We took US90, US27, and US98 to avoid I10. It looks like this route is the correctional institution route based on the number we saw along the way. There must have been 6 or 8. We stopped in Perry, FL to do some grocery shopping at Walmart. After shopping we decided to catch a quick lunch at Sonic and then we were on the road again. About 25 miles from Perry, Sue got a phone call from her bank...

Jan 3, 2013 - Ho-Hum RV Park

The morning of Jan 3rd we left Lake City FL and headed to Carabelle, FL to stay four nights at Ho-Hum RV Park. This park is located right on the coast and we were promised a campsite fronting on the beach and looking out over the Gulf of Mexico. We were not disapointed, our campsite was great. While we were here we toured the area. One day we drove to Alligator Point which is a strip of land jutting out into the Gulf with numerous homes and resorts. We discovered that this area was devistated by Hurricane Katrena and most of the homes are...

Apr 14, 2012 - Ho Hum RV Resort, Carrabelle, FL

4-14-12 to 5-5-12, Carrabelle, FL We arrived at HO HUM RV resort, 5 miles east of Carrabelle, FL Saturday to stay for one week. After being here for a few days we decided to extend to three weeks. We have a camp site on our favorite beach with our RV pulled into a spot facing the Gulf--about 50 feet from the water. It was 81 and wind was about 10-15 from the south when we arrived, just enough to keep us warm but pleasantly comfortable. The weather here has been great, day temperatures from the upper 70’s to 80’s with light to moderate...
