Feb 7, 2018 - boat ride in Pine Island Sound

Connie has a time share type of thing with a boat, so she got one here and took us out for a ride to North Captiva, which is only accessible by boat now. It used to be connected to Captiva, but a hurricane in the 50s made a waterway between them! It was an adventure because first we went too far north, then found the shallow water. We got to the island long after our expected time of noonish, so we loved our lunch at barnacle Bills! It was real food and I found something other than fish to eat. Mar 11, 2013 - Captiva Island, FL

From WP Franklin Lock COE Park in Alva, FL ... Monday, March 11, 2013 We've stayed pretty busy during the last week, but we haven't really gone anywhere "different," so that's my excuse for not blogging. :) That's my story, and I'm sticking to it. haha Seriously though, we have been working on a "project" around here. I won't say anything more than that for now, but we should have some news soon. How's that for a mystery? :) Today we decided that we would like to drive to Sanibel Island one last time for the year and visit Ding Darling...

On the Road Again

Nov 28, 2012 - Letterbox find in Sanibel

There are three letterboxes on Sanibel Island to find and it's best to do it before all the tourists come, so today became that day for me. It was very foggy all morning so I knew not many people would be out and about. The first box was in a hole in a banyan tree across from the island's Dairy Queen and I got there before lunch. But I had to look in three trees without being seen by bikers and people going in and out of stores nearby. Once I found it, I could stamp in without being seen because it was in the tree in the corner of the lot...

Mar 16, 2009 - The Bubble Room On Captiva Island

Hi Everyone, Well I'm back from my little sabbatical. I'm going to try to bring you all up to date on what we have been doing. As I mentioned earlier, my sister Linda and her husband Ed spent the week with us. Everyday we were off and running to someplace different. On Monday we decided to go to Sanibel and Captiva Island. These beautiful islands are only about four miles from our campsite at Fort Myers Beach. We had heard about a crazy restaurant on Captiva Island, called the Bubble Room. That was enough for us to want to check it out....

Oct 1, 2007 - Journey to Jupiter

Hello everyone...We are here at Captive Island, Florida...This is day two of having THE Lady O aboard the Lady O...we left Sarasota and traveled the intercoastal waterway yesterday to Captiva and had smooth sailing...we are staying put here for a few days due to the strong winds... and will leave here Wednesday and go to Marathon since we can't make the trip through the Okeechobee to Jupiter we are going around Florida which will take us a few days extra... The one thing we are learning is not to count on being on schedule....it all depends...
