Mar 16, 2012 - House hunting

The day began with a nature walk on the beach with a naturalist. Beautiful morning and she was very interesting but my mind always wonders to the water. Then we met up with our property manager Cindy Morgan and began looking for a house that is DONE rather than spending a ton of money upgrading our home in Neptune Beach. This a thought my father gave us when he said if you are going to spend big bucks converting your duplex to a single family why not just sell it and buy one that's done. Makes sense but what we saw was way out there cost...

Mar 15, 2012 - I'm your vehicle woman

VERY obscure reference to the Ides of March which is today. That is the name of the group that had a hit with Vehicle and the title is a line from the song. Just beware of the soothsayer. Another fabulous day in paradise (sunny, mid 70's). We went for breakfast Alfredo in Neptune Beach, walked down to our humble abode on North St. and it looks pretty good. Mar 14, 2012 - We're Home!

We have travelled all over this wonderful country and it is good to know that we feel at home in North Florida. It just feels right to be here. A three day stay at Hanna Park in Atlantic Beach is all. We did have a fantastic day! We got in around 11 AM and set up. Had lunch and hit the road to one of our favorite destinations, Fernandina Beach. It was a chamber of commerce day sunny and...

Nov 2, 2011 - Diners, Drive-ins and Dives

Stopped at my first DDD spot on the trip. It's located next to the historic St. Johns River Ferry that still operates. It's also right next to the Mayport Naval Station. The food was good and it's worth visiting if your're in the area and are a DDD fan. It's got character. In warmer weather you can sit on the deck and watch the sunset over the St. Johns River.

Mar 10, 2011 - One more stop

Arrived to Kathryn Hanna Park in Atlantic Beach, FL (City of Jacksonville) in the late afternoon. Nice woody park with the ocean beach within walking distance from our campsite. What's a beach? (Remember, I have a very limited life experience). I'll find out tomorrow.
