Apr 25, 2016 - Kayaking and a Beautiful Beach

Monday morning we headed back to Longboat Key for a kayaking adventure. We went with an outfitter called Happy Paddlers, and had a great experience with our guide Allan. We paddled for about three hours and saw dolphins, manatees, and lots of birds. We also gawked at a lot of fancy homes and boats, and stopped at a really neat beach called Beer Can Beach. Later, we ended up on Anna Maria Island for a spectacular sunset. Aaaaahhhhhhhhh, another wonderful day in Florida! Tuesday, its time to move on again - this time toward Bonita Springs, FL.

Apr 27, 2012 - Coquina Beach on Anna Maria Island, FL

We spent the day on Coquina Beach, which is a special spot along the gulf on Anna Maria Island. Although we couldn't have named the beach, upon arrival we realized that it was the very beach we were trying to recall after being here back in the early 90's with our children. After a day relaxing in the sun, we found a little Italian restaurant for dinner before heading to a pier to watch the sunset.

Jan 17, 2010 - Beach Day

We started the day by planning to go to a car show scheduled to be at the MidState Flea Market in Palmetto. Both were disappointing. The flea market was not what we were expecting--mostly vegetables and tag sale or garage sale items--and the car show was not street rods or antique cars but used cars for sale by their owners. Oh well, the weather was beautiful, and the food smells were great. We decided to travel a bit farther to see Anna Marie again. It's on the end of Longboat Key, past Holmes Beach. It's so very quaint, and with the...

Mar 18, 2009 - Anna Maria Island

This should be titled "Eating Our Way Through Florida". Yesterday it was cloudy all day and we did drive around a lot but didn't take many pictures. We went to Florida's largest book store and drove up the coast. Today was beautiful so we headed south to Anna Maria Island. It was very pretty there. We had a fish sandwich out at the end of the pier that is in the pictures. We drove around the island and stopped at some antique stores and just enjoyed the afternoon. I still didn't take that many pics but I'll show you what we have.

Feb 17, 2008 - Much Better

From Torrey Oaks RV Resort, in Bowling Green, FL, 50 miles east of St. Petersburg. My back is much better, we have done some sightseeing, the weather has remained GREAT, we have watched all of the Daytona racing, I have received the new AT&T air card & confirmed that it works, I have now read (or at least scanned) all of the manuals for the Phaeton, & the stock market continues to bounce like a rubber ball. That is the Cliff notes version of this entry, the full version follows. Thanks to comments from long-time journal reader Jim after my...
