Leaving Cheyenne, WY we headed south to Colorado deciding to camp in the Rockies just west of Fort Collins, CO. The campground we were looking for was Bellaire National Forest Campground. Outside Fort Collins, we turned west on Route 14 passing through Poudre Park, CO which on the map looked like the best road to our targeted Bellaire Campground. It followed the Poudre River up the mountain but the road turned out to be very steep, very narrow in spots and winding back and forth through high canyon walls. Jun 11, 2014 - Day Trip: Poudre Canyon, CO

This is our last day in Fort Collins. I do the laundry. While the clothes are in the dryer, I meet John at the Chuck Wagon for breakfast. With the laundry complete, we are back on the motorcycle. We head back to the Poudre Canyon. We follow the Cache la Poudre River to Rustic and then continue further upstream. It is not long before we realize that the best part of the ride is below Rustic. We turn the bike around after following the river for forty-two miles. John lets it loose a little, as we head out of the canyon. He enjoys the ride....

Jun 10, 2014 - Day Trip: Poudre Canyon, CO

It is another beautiful day in Colorado. The bike is out. Today we head north of Route 287 to The Forks. It is a truck route and not to my liking but we have a plan. At The Forks, we head west toward Red Feathers Lake. It is scenic and the road is more to our liking. We are enjoying our ride when we see cattle outside their fence. We stop and take pictures. Further along in our ride, we see a traffic jam. Cattle are all over the road and a rider on horseback is herding them. A man in a pickup tells us to weave our way through the herd....
