Sep 28, 2019 - Lake Pueblo State Park

Still moving towards Albuquerque for our scheduled medical checkups and some tuning up of the Jeep and RV. We came down out of the high country in Colorado to the more desert looking flatlands with a stop in Pueblo, CO at Lake Pueblo State Park. This is another man-made reservoir with the water level drained down a lot during the summer. Things are slowing down camping-wise in Colorado this time of year. Fewer campers and many of the boats getting packed up for the winter. This is a nice park for boaters and fishermen. The lake is a lot...

Aug 6, 2019 - Lake Pueblo State Park, Arkansas Point (7/22 - 7/25/19)

We stayed in site #35 which looks out onto Lake Pueblo, the marina and Pike's Peak (when the clouds aren't covering it. This is a great park with lots of room between the sites. The ride over was anything but average. We drove through one very high pass that took us to 11,371'. That is the highest point that we have been and most assuredly the highest point the RV has been! It plugged right along and we made it with only a bit of engine noise!! Albeit we weren't going to win any speed races! On Tuesday we drove to Pike's Peak. There were...

Jul 22, 2018 - Trips to Duluth and Pueblo-Side Trip to St. Louis

The next show was scheduled for May 25th in Springfield, MO and we thought we would be working it and it would be the first time working with the couple that got us hooked up with this opportunity. However, the boss had bought the awning that had been with the truck he was going to buy and needed it picked up. Evidently, whoever bought the truck didn’t want the awning and he decided to get it. Even if he didn’t get the other truck he could still use the awning as a backup. It turned out that he had plenty of help for the Springfield show....

Jul 3, 2018 - Someone actually SCREAMED at us!!!

With this heat we set the alarm for 5:00!! It still takes a bit of getting used to, getting up that early! We did the best we could, got packed up and had breakfast and managed to get on the road by 7:00am! That was an improvement and it was cooler at that time of morning! Good for us but we are going to have to get better! The ride was pretty uneventful, more of the same dry arid landscape! But it is still beautiful in its own way, always changing, there was a mountain range along side of us and that always makes me feel better when there...

May 18, 2018 - Leaving Santa Fe, On to Colorado

Yesterday we golfed at a municipal par 3 golf course not too far from our campsite. This was golfing in the high plains dessert. We thought we would have lots of energy due to the perfect weather, but the high altitude and cart path only challenged us!!! Still it was a beautiful day with lots of nice scenery and nice greens. This morning we are reluctantly leaving Santa Fe with its beautiful mountains and perfect weather, but if we want to see Yellowstone, then we have to hit the road.

Apr 11, 2018 - Wednesday Pueblo CO

Pueblo began as Fort Pueblo around 1842. The current city of Pueblo represents the consolidation of four towns: Pueblo (incorporated 1870), South Pueblo (incorporated 1873), Central Pueblo (incorporated 1882), and Bessemer (incorporated 1886). Pueblo, South Pueblo, and Central Pueblo legally consolidated as the City of Pueblo between March 9 and April 6, 1886. Bessemer joined Pueblo in 1894. The consolidated city became a major economic and social center of Colorado, and was home to important early Colorado families such as the Thatchers,...

Feb 17, 2018 - Road Trip! Glen Haven to Pueblo, CO

2-17-18 Road Trip! Glen Haven to Pueblo, CO Left the cabin in Glen Haven around 10AM. We were up and watching the last of a TV series called “Broadchurch” at 7:30AM. We wanted to finish the series with Kate before leaving on the road trip. We had been “binge watching” this series over the last few days. Kate has a lot of stamina when it comes to binge watching. We were on the road by 10:30AM. It was low forties and windy in Estes Park, but a clear nice day for driving. We made it to Colorado Springs shortly after 1:00PM and had lunch with...

Jun 9, 2017 - Day 41 - Canon City to Pueblo, CO

Today’s jaunt to Pueblo, Colorado was a generally downhill 60-mile ride with 2,156’ of ascent. The end-point of today’s ride was Pueblo, Colorado, population 108,423 at an elevation of 4,692’. This was the most populous area I have ridden through on this trip, and I wasn’t fond of riding in the area. Fun fact: Pueblo Chiles are grown with Rocky Mountain Water and Colorado Sunshine in Pueblo, Colorado. Cool nights and hot days make Pueblo Chiles hotter, bigger and meatier, giving Pueblo Chiles superiority in texture, flavor and...

Sep 22, 2016 - Newmar Kountry Klub International Rally opening day

At 6:45 I hear people moving around outside and some engines starting to I get up to see what is happening. Outside I see people walking around and one guy is bringing in his slides. So I go inside our RV and tell Charlotte that we need to get up and get closed up, I think something is happening. As I finished bringing in the slide outs, the main gates open and a bunch of golf carts come out. Just in time I am retracting our jacks and starting up the engine, it is a few minutes after 7am and they are getting ready to take us in now, not at...

Sep 21, 2016 - PT and moving to Pueblo, CO

Got to the physical therapist by 8am and had a good workout. They also gave me some exercises to work on later, so I have a good selection of exercises to choose from. Then back to the RV to close up and get ready to move. I talked with the state president of Newmar Kountry Klub and he said that things would get filling up fast, so it might be wise to come down a day early. We will have to dry camp for the night and then go in the next morning. We had a good drive down with no problems and arrived at about 1pm. We are directed into a large...
