Apr 13, 2016 - Winters, CA

We followd Murray and Shelle to Winters, CA and camped at Solano Lake Park. It was a pretty tight place with lots of trees. It took time just to get parked. While there we toured town, did some grocery shopping, and did a tour of a couple of wineries. Mike and Sally came and visited us as they live about an hour away. She brought a nice dinner to share with us all. Of course we had a fire and happy hour each evening. The weather was cool but nice.

Sep 1, 2012 - Lake Solano County Park - Winters

Solano Lake County Park. Stayed here because we had a wedding to attend. The park is a bit worn, but still nice with Peacocks acting as the owners and guards (way too many of them). Our spot was the very last one and sat on a hill above the rest of the campground. We rented a canoe and went on the lake for a couple of hours, very nice. Since we had the wedding we got back late and had to park in the parking lot at the visitor’s center as they lock the gate at 9pm, no biggie, plenty of spots. No sewer in all but two sites, and since we would...

Feb 20, 2012 - Winters, California

You can’t wait for inspiration. You have to go after it with a club. -Jack London Frequently as we travel about, we find ourselves staying in the same campgrounds repeatedly, particularly in the western states. This is usually because they are part of our membership park system, so the price is right. However, it creates a bit of a dilemma because we are concerned we might run out of new sites to see (and share with you) in these familiar places. So when we found ourselves back in Canyon Creek RV Resort near Winters, California (see our...

Apr 24, 2010 - Canyon Country

We went for our free weekend to Canyon Creek. The store we bought our trailer from. Village RV in Roseville gave us a coupon for a free weekend so we did it. It's a members only park near lake Berryessa that we've driven by thousands of times but were never able to stop. The park was nice and we bought a membership for Vista Resorts which has two parks. Canyon Country and Delta Shores. We also bought into Resorts of Distinctin (ROD) Resort Parks International (RPI) and Coast to Coast. We should have our membership cards in about 4-6 weeks...

Aug 6, 2008 - Three Wrong Ways & A Resort

August 6...Canyon Creek Resort---Winters, CA We decided to go to Winters, CA by way of hwy 88...from Minden, NV to Jackson, CA., good choice :-) We left Smith Valley about 9 AM. We didn't have too far to go and figured we'd be at our next campgrounds by 2 PM or so. Hwy 88 through Carson Pass was good road and the scenery was very good too. We saw a number of classic cars coming through the pass. Reno is having a week long classic car gathering on a number of their streets. That was a great site....to see these wonderful, brightly painted...

Oct 15, 2007 - Winters, CA

We pulled into Canyon Creek campground and since we wound our way down a canyon to get there, we thought the name to be appropriate. There was also a creek running alongside the campground which lent one to believe the owner wasn't terribly original with the name. We didn't discover until a couple of days later the place should have been named Canyon Creek Right Downstream From A Dam Which Held Back One Of California's Larger Reservoirs Campground. And when was the last earthquake?!? We did take a run over to Napa Valley & did a...

Oct 6, 2007 - Getting ready to head south again

Most of you know we have been back up in Washington since the middle of July and now we are getting ready to go south again. It has been great visiting our children and grandchildren. It's amazing how much the grandkids have grown when you haven't seen them for 7-10 months. So we will start having some great pictures and stories from places we're going to. Lois' knee is coming along quite well. Her surgeon has given her the OK to travel. She still has more rehabing left to do, so we are planning on going down to either Hemet or El Centro in...

Jul 12, 2007 - Canyon Creek Resort, Winters CA, Elev 258 ft

Winters CA. It's amazing that we are back on the West Coast! The drive over the Sierra Nevada Mountains was spectular. We couldn't see how anyone ever made it over Donner Pass. It is nothing but huge rocks and it goes on and on an on. We're really glad that we made the trip from Reno to Sacremento on I-80. The amount of time it took to get over the mountains was really a surprise to us. Very steep with lots of sharp curves. In spots the grade was 6%. All of us "truckers" were in the slow lane either creeping up the mountains or trying not...
