May 17, 2011 - Snowing at Twin Lakes

After coffee and breakfast this morning, we bundled up and went out to take a walk and some photos. It is so very pretty here but we realize our old bodies don’t do as well in the cold as they used to. I defrosted some homemade chicken soup that I had brought from home and we enjoyed that for lunch today. I baked a few chocolate chip cookies for an afternoon snack. The slice and bake cookies are great when you only want to make a few. Since it started a light snow as soon as we got back from our walk this afternoon, we have stayed inside....

May 16, 2011 - On to Twin Lakes, CA

We are still traveling north on US 395 and headed for Twin Lakes, CA. We will probably spend two nights there and visit Bodie, CA while we are there. We stopped at Mono Lake visitor center and we enjoyed a wonderful nature trail down below the center in front of the lake. As we headed north, we drove through a gorgeous Ponderosa Pine forest and stopped at a rest center that still had high drifts of snow. When we arrived at Bridgeport, we had lunch at an old Inn where Mark Twain supposedly stayed at one time. Had a nice lunch of soup and...

Mar 23, 2006 - After Life on Wheels

After Life on Wheels in Tucson (would this be called the "afterlife?), we took some actions based on recommendations from the conference. We bought four new foam-type fire extinguishers to be mounted strategically in our motorhome and car (we already have dry powder extinguishers, which will now become backups), and we purchased the DeLorme Street Atlas software with a GPS.
