Dec 15, 2019 - Katy, Tx - Columbus, Ga - Travis AFB Ca

We arrived back from Mexico to Kimi’s home in Katy, Texas safely and were welcomed by REAL FOOD from our daughters. Had a short visit with everyone before we proceeded to Austin and San Antonio for visits with friends and shopping at Randolph Air Force Base. RV friends who we met some years ago sometimes stay with their family in Austin. We drove there first, had a visit with Charlie and Jung and then went out for some good ole Texas BBQ and more visiting. It took just under 2 hours to travel the 133 miles from Katy to Austin, but then took...

May 19, 2019 - Travis Air Force Base California

After about 24 hours door-to-door, we arrived at Travis AFB billeting. Crashed is the only word that comes to mind when we hit the pillows. Next day we met with old friend and fellow PSM (Personnel Systems Manager) from the 70's, Pat Marino, who as usual is the first person to meet us at Travis. Later on we drove to the storage unit to "just" put three of our four suitcases in so we can travel to D.C. next week carrying only one suitcase, but the unit was not up to Julieann's cleaning standard so she spent a few hours shining stuff. Just...

Sep 5, 2014 - Las Vegas, Reno, Travis AFB

So we left Salt Lake City for Las Vegas. Spending most of July in the 100+ degree Las Vegas heat wasn’t my smartest more, but I had decided that I wanted to celebrate my 70th birthday seeing as many Vegas shows as possible. About half way there I felt the steering acting “funny”. I pulled into a Pilot station to gas up and was lucky enough to have a tire store co-located there. An employee just walking by stopped and showed me that my front tire was separating and could pop/blow out at any time, especially on the hot roads we were...

Jul 3, 2010 - Travis AFB, CA

We arrived here with the hope of visiting our "City by the Bay," maybe seeing our old house (we lived in Pittsburg, CA for three and one-half years in the mid-80s), and touring the wine country in Napa and Sonoma counties. We also hoped to be able to find Jeremy's Godparents, who were our next door neighbors. Our last visit to this area was in September 1987! Well, as luck would have it, Ollie tore off a toenail while trying to chase a rabbit and several hours later, after surgery to remove the rest of the nail, was drugged up and not going...
