Jan 24, 2011 - Sun City, CA - TT Wilderness Lakes

Monday, January 24 - It was a short day to the Thousand Trails Wilderness Lakes Preserve in Menifee close to Sun City. There are canals that meander through the park so many of the campsites are on water and campers feed the birds. We chose a larger site off water with a few trees. There are many different birds along the canal including the Little Blue Heron, Great White Egret, Coots, and of course ducks and geese. The humming birds found our feeder right away and even some kind of sparrows come for their drink from the feeder. The canals...

Dec 18, 2010 - accident

Rob was involed in a accident with the car on Saturday morning his leg has a lump below his knee other wise he seems OK. The insurance company has totaled the car so we are trying to replace it here in Ca. The dealers here say they can only sell if we pay the Ca. tax then drive to Md. and pay Md tax again. So we decided to buy from a local couple we found then we can send all the paper work to Md. and they will give us the paper work for our tags. Rob's daughter Kate is going to take care of the things in Md for us then mail it back so we...

Apr 10, 2009 - the journey continues...

God has been SO GOOD to allow us to see and experience so much since we’ve chosen this type of lifestyle for RETIREMENT ! ! ! April 4, 2009 - We moved to another campground in Menifee, CA. We set up an appointment at Camping World in San Marcos, CA to get the oil changed on both the RV and the generator; and also have the HVAC systems checked. April 5, 2009 – Our neighbor in the campground asked us to go on a “Poker Run” to assist “abuse children” in the area. We rode about 130 miles. That was the first Poker Run we’d been on since we’d...

Jul 12, 2008 - Sun City

Today we awoke to the pitter patter of little feet, Don's two kids Mitchell and Alyson, five and three years old. They are so much fun and are very well behaved! Steven and I had a great time playing with them. Later in the day we ran a few errands with Don and the kids. Don showed us all of the houses that were/are forclosed in his town. I guess this area is one of the hardest hit by the housing crisis. Houses are being resold down here for less than half of what they were worth just one year ago. We even saw a small development where the...

Jan 23, 2008 - Bob Hope Chrysler Classic and a hungry Coyote!

The golf tournament is over. I had four days of walking 7000 yds. of a beautiful golf course with several different pro golfers. These guys are great and just regular guys. They could all hit the ball a long way and still be very accurate. Their second shots were almost always spot on the green near the hole. There was only two holes where they had to lay up short of the green and they were around 600 yds. long. The Pro's helped the amateurs line up putts and were generally very easy to talk to and helpful when they had problems. Of course,...

Dec 5, 2007 - The explanation continues!

You may remember from my earlier entry that our membership campgrounds have one 'hard and fast' rule - you must be out of the system for at least 7 days between stays. We had left a Thousand Trails campground, gone to a Coast to Coast park and were scheduled to arrive in a Thousand Trails campground on Wednesday, 7 days after we left the previous one. Well, we had had enough of the weather and Ken was especially suffering from the lack of an interent connection. On Monday he made a call to the campground we were scheduled to arrive at and...
