Apr 6, 2017 - The Reagan Library

No doubt the Reagans had some rich friends. This place is a palace! All to acclaim wonderful accomplishments of the "great communicator". Complete with the Boeing 707 used as Airforce One during his administration. I took six hours to go through the place -- and we didn't see everything. Very impressive indeed. Given our current leader, Reagan looks a lot better to this Minnesota Liberal

Dec 26, 2016 - Christmas Eve & Christmas Day

Pete & I packed up the Charger (aka the Sleigh) with loads of Christmas gifts & headed to Simi Valley, Ca. for Christmas with the family. Pete did a great job of packing up the car....the trunk was packed tight & we had to put our luggage on the back seat (along with a couple of other gifts that Pete couldn't cram in the trunk). Traffic was pretty good until just before Pasadena, there was a nasty accident on the freeway...seems a tractor trailer truck hit the center divider (after clipping a car) & ended up on the commuter tracks (they run...

Dec 25, 2016 - Christmas Trees-A Long Story, Sorry

Thursday 11/3 Sorry this one is so long. I really got behind while we were working the Christmas tree lot. Luckily I noticed that I had made some notes. If I hadn't I wouldn't have remembered most of what we did during this time. I stayed up late last night and slept late this morning. I woke up hearing one of the managers talking to Margie. He’d come to visit and give us more information about managing a Christmas tree lot. After I got up the person who worked as the lot supervisor during pumpkins also showed up and we all talked in our...

OTR with M and R

Mar 14, 2016 - Simi Valley CA

We will be visiting the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library today. We have waited to visit which means we needed to stay here for some extra days because of Nancy’s funeral. The Library reopened on Sunday but we waited until Monday to visit, hoping it would be less crowded. That didn’t help, there was a large crowd, probably because of Nancy Reagan’s funeral on Friday. The entrance to the library has you winding up a long drive to the summit of the mountain where the library is situated on to overlook the Simi Valley, surrounding mountains...

Mar 12, 2016 - Simi Valley CA

We needed to visit the local Verizon store today to get some issues fixed on Candy’s phone. They were having issues updating so we needed to find an Apple store. There was one located in the Simi Valley Mall, so away we went. After 4 hours we finally got the phone fixed but we needed to return to get the IPads upgraded, nothing is simple.

Mar 10, 2016 - Simi Valley CA

As I said earlier that we don’t have Wi-Fi at the campground so we made a trip to the local library so we could check our emails and update the blog. Also Candy has to do her Facebook stuff. That was about it for the day as for sightseeing. We have been working on where our next stop will be. We think that our next stop will be San Miguel which is on Route 101 on the way to San Francisco. We were thinking of driving the Pacific Coast Highway, Route 1 up the coast. Everyone we talk with told us that this road is not for motorhomes because it...

Mar 9, 2016 - Simi Valley CA

We needed to visit the local AAA office to get some information and then we will to the showing of Nancy Reagan. The entire town of Simi Valley was prepared for this event. They had the parking about 6 miles from the library so there were buses transporting people to the library. It was very well organized with the only place you were waiting was at the pick-up point to load the bus. We arrived at the library, which could never had held all of the cars, and spent about 45 minutes there for the viewing. I was very solemn event and the only...

Mar 8, 2016 - Simi Valley CA

There is no cell service which means no Wi-Fi at the campground so updates will be spotty. Once we leave on Tuesday we will have service again. We started our journey to Simi Valley today. It is only about 60 miles but driving in this traffic is like traveling an entire day. We did drive thru downtown Los Angles because it was the most direct route to take so we did get to experience the crazy traffic. I still say people must no work here because they are always on the road. We did find a campground in Simi Valley that was not the...

Jan 15, 2015 - A Turn Around trip to Simi valley, Ca.

On Friday 1/9, we headed to Simi Valley, Ca. to visit our eldest Son Robert, daughter-in-law Jodi & our beautiful Grand-daughters Daria & Zoe. Our wonderful friend Bev came along with us, she's heard about Rob, Jodi & the girls for quite some time, so it was time for her to meet them & they her. The road trip to Simi was pretty good, we managed to miss all the commuter traffic & the weather was great. Saturday in Simi it rained all day & into the night (thought we'd have to break out a boat). Sunday was cloudy with just a few sprinkles but...
