May 31, 2008 - San Carlos weekend at Mac and Jane's - and Monterey (or another place I didn't quite go whale watching!)

Spent a great weekend with Mac and Jane, friends from Sheffield days, catching up on years of news and tales of mutual friends. Mac's working for Tesla developing a ground-breaking electric sports car, styled partly on the Lotus Elise (and yes, I did get to go in one - eat your heart out again, Shelley!)Loved Mac and Jan'e's house which was beautiful and was utterly spoilt with my own bathroom complete wth jacuzzi! Weather was pretty kind, warmer than SF which had been surprisingly cool (hadn't appreciated before how much the Gulf Stream...

Sep 5, 2007 - San Francisco

Last night I was talking to Vlad about how even in this brief time I have changed my view of Americans and therefore America quite a lot. Vlad and Marina's house is amazing, it is like a huge forest cabin surrounded by big trees and wildlife (there is a deer under the balcony as I write), but in the middle of a city as well. If we squint between the trees we can see the high rise office buildings of Silicon Valley. Today we have some pictures of me for a change. I had a chilled morning lying around and planning the next few days, then in the...
