Nov 18, 2011 - Sue's Here

On my way to the airport to pick up Sue, I stopped at the Gorilla BBQ, a DDD place. It in an old box car. I didn't realize there weren't any tables to sit at, it's strictly take out. Since I had planned to have dinner at the restaurant and then go to the airport, I wound up with over 2 hours on my hands. I took my beef brisket sandwich and drove to the cell phone parking lot at SFO and ate on the open tailgate of the car. Sue's plane awas about a half hour late. Not too bad. We'll be leaving San Francisco area tomorrow for San Diego.

Nov 17, 2011 - Dunworkin

Today was the last day of work. To celebrate, I went to Naglee Park Garage in San Jose. It's a tiny place (30 seats plus outdoor garden)in an old gas station and was featured on DDD episode "Comfort Food Classics". They make burgers, ketchup, and fries from scratch. I had tri-tip sandwich with cheddar cheese and french fries. It was delicious. After dinner, I went to HP Pavillion, aka the Shark Tank, to watch the Sharks play Detroit Red Wings. I can chalk another arena of my list. I pick up Sue at the airport tomorrow night and we'll leave...

2011 Triangle Tour

Nov 13, 2011 - The Base of the Triangle is Complete

We finally reached the end of this portion of the trip. We pulled into Trailer Villa RV Park in Redwood City, CA this afternoon. I’ll be working this week and Sue will arrive Friday night. Today’s trip took us through Pacheco Pass. The first stop was Casa de Fruta. It’s like an upscale Wall Drug or South of the Border without all of the signs lining the route for a hundred miles. It started when orchards were planted in 1908. In the 1940's three teenaged brothers, George, Joseph and Eugene Zanger, opened a cherry stand on the Pacheco Pass...

Mar 9, 2011 - Night before we leave

We leave tomorrow, after a very long and frustrating day of trying to get the U-Haul trailer (took 7 hours of the day) over the trailer light blinkers not working. Had to run around and find one we could splice into the 4 Runner's Tail light system. We finally got that done and then went and loaded it at storage in Redwood City (all the crap that was in the RV we sold and at my mom and sister's house since September of last year. We are just happy we are still on schedule to leave for Jacksonville FL. We are excited, nervous (long drive)...

Dec 11, 2009 - Thanksgiving with Marian and Bob

We left Sacramento and headed about 130 miles down the road to an RV Park south of San Jose. We were only about 30 miles from Marian and Bob’s home in Redwood City. We drove over to their house on Thanksgiving morning and Marian had prepared a wonderful Thanksgiving dinner menu. So Marian and Lois put the finishing touches on a really great dinner. Their son Brian came over and their friends, Tom and Marge were there also. Not only was the dinner great, but the company was really fantastic. We enjoyed ourselves immensely. Thanksgiving is...

Sep 27, 2009 - Redwood City and Hazel's Birthday

Sunday we attended a small party for our granddaughter, Hazel, put on for the family by Michael and his wife, Cat. Hazel turns 6years old on October 3rd, but there were family members in town now that were going to be gone on her actual birthday. She will have another party next week with her little friends. Michael and Cat organized a brunch with fresh bagels, cream cheese, lox, sliced red onions and tomatoes, fresh fruit, and coffee from The Grinder. Kate, Cat’s mom, made a bread pudding with croissants, raisins and pecans, and served...

Sep 11, 2009 - and away we go !! well...not really...

Ok then, as you read this, you will realize that it’s not a 'destination' entry, we haven’t gone anywhere on a trip in a few days I guess, but we wanted to let you all know with just a few weeks left on this Stanford assignment, it’s time to be looking for another contract in a different State, to start off with, Seattle,Washington is open, but.. not only would Donna freeze, so will the water hose that connects to the 5th wheel and of course, the water lines would freeze up, I would have to go to LOWES, purchase a blow torch to un-thaw the...

Jul 13, 2009 - Second journey to California, to the North we go

Redwood City California, we made it without a ticket or a scratch, it was a long haul from Keene Texas, the weather is a bit better here, the breeze is blowing a cool 85 degrees. We left Keene on Thursday morning, (05:30) we hooked up and picked up the night before in order to keep the noise level down for our sleeping neighbors at the Ranch RV Park. Leaving the State of Texas behind, family and some good times, was bitter sweet, we had a good time going to the Stock Yards of Fort Worth and making a trip to Glen-Rose, let’s not forget the...

Mar 10, 2008 - Paso Robles - Redwood City

A quick trip to the grocery store for some lunch items, and we are off once again. The trees are in full blossom here, which lets us know spring is around the corner! The temperature is very nice again today with lots of sunshine. We are now on Hwy 101, which we will follow to our destination of San Francisco. Once we get around San Jose, the traffic is flowing in 3 or 4 lanes each way, and it is very busy. San Jose is part of the Silicone Valley; we see offices for companies such as Yahoo, McAfee, Microsoft and others. From here it is...

Oct 6, 2007 - SEA to SFO for Dad's 75th Birthday Fiesta AND to see Baby Logan James Rutter!

Satureday/Sabado, 6 Octubre 2007 - SEA to SFO When the packing process got too blurry last night, I grabbed a quick 45 minute nap at 10 PM, then kept working 'til 1:30 AM, while my sweet family slept. Traveling mommies have to thing of everything...schedules, back-up, reading coupons, emergency authorization forms, phone numbers of all our family & friends, and of course, the pets. With one last glance at the "final schedule", I pressed the print, then the send-to-all, and lastly the shut-it-down buttons. Four hours of sleep would hardly...
