May 1, 2012 - Redlands, California

5/1 – 5/4 We drove 372 miles in two days on our way to Redlands, California (SR95, I-10). The first day we traveled with David and Dianne to BLM land in Quartzsite, Arizona. We were served a 5 star dinner consisting of David’s grilled chipotle turkey burgers and bacon wrapped, cheese stuffed, peppers (fancy poppers). Life was good in Quartzsite. The next day we separated as we headed to the Redlands Truck and RV Repair Center. Our house received some excellent care during this stop. While they were working on the coach, Joan worked on her...

Jul 15, 2010 - First day of our 6 week trek to Alaska

After a year and a half of spending every spare moment working on the bus we are done and heading off to Alaska. We did the paint job just this last week. At the TDW Fruita barbecue Charlie told me about his good friend Danny that is an expert body man. He came out to my house and did this spectacular paint job. Thanks Danny. We got out of Redlands at 8:30 on our way to my warehouse in Gardena for some last minute computer work. On the way I noticed the transmission temperature was running about 240. Way to hot for flat ground driving....

May 23, 2010 - Rain, Hail, Snow and Wind

My hopes to see Big Bear came to a screaching halt approximately half way up the canyon. First it was rain, then hail, then the snow began. I was still okay until I noticed the cars coming down the hill were covered in snow and they were shaking there head. Then the wind began, that was it, I pulled over and turned around. I was so disappointed. I had purchased a coupon from Restaurant.com for Innabis Mediterranean Grill and New York Deli here in Redlands. Mom had a Pastrami Sandwich platter with Bread Pudding for dessert. I had a Prime Rib...

May 22, 2010 - Leaving Phoenix

We were up and at it early, even for us. We had most of packing done, so we had a quick breakfast and a potty run for Benji. After hooking up the car, we were ready to roll at 7:15 AM. We headed west on I-10 and stopped at Sams Club in Avondale for fuel and again we were on our way. This is a much longer trip then we normally travel in one day, this being 307 miles It was a fairly uneventful trip. No traffic until we entered the Indio area which is also where we found horrific wind. We only had 30 miles to go, but I slowed down to a crawl...

Jan 9, 2008 - We have (finally!!) arrived

Greetings from LA from 6 weary travellers! It has been such a busy 2 days - sorry about the delay in filling you all in on our trip thus far. We got off to an exciting start with the aborted take-off half way down the runway in Brisbane. One student's comment:"If my mum saw that she probably fainted!" A bird flew into an engine so we sat on the tarmac for 2 hours while an official inspection took place, then the paper work had to be done (which actually took longer than the inspection!). I have to confess to being a little anxious about...
