Mar 16, 2016 - Ramona, CA

We got home, and first thing we called about our satellite dish. I will not bore you with the details but the response from Winegard was underwhelming. I got so angry I could not deal with it. We took the trailer immediate to a Winegard certified repair facility. There we got the same response and even thought I had my checkbook in had they would not lift their little finger. I won't be recommending that place again. A few days later Susan got Winegard to send a new box. Cost us $190 to get it the next day. It would not work. So we packed...

Travel 2016

Feb 14, 2016 - Anticipation

Part of the fun for me is the anticipation of a vacation. I enjoy the planning. Here it is, Valentine's Day. I will leave on my cruise in exactly two weeks. I plan to leave the house around this time. I will drive up to Long Beach where my ship will be waiting for me. Before I go to the port, I will tie in a genealogy excursion. I found that my Aunt Girlie was living with her grandmother Birdie, and Birdie's husband Tiny Boy in Long Beach on the 1940 Census. The house that they were living in is not too far from the port. I will drive by...

Nov 28, 2013 - Ramona, CA

Flew back home. We started all the doctor visits. Went to the movies. Shopping, fixing, cleaning, clearing out junk from the trailer. On Thursday we had Thanksgiving dinner at Susan's brother's house. Marsha did all the cooking and Mike and I watched football. It was a great meal. I did not over eat.

Travel 2013

Dec 3, 2012 - Ramona, CA (home)

After the cruse we flew home and spent a few weeks at home. While home we spent most of our time getting ready for our travels in 2013. Susan got to spend a few days with her mother in Chula Vist and I got time to work on the desk that I started building 7 years ago. I decided to make some concessions to the desk, leaving out the secretary part in the top drawer, and to forego the Newport Shell carvings, four of them. I will do the carvings someday when I can dedicate 2 straight months in my shop. I spent most of my times while we were at...

2012 Travels

Jan 21, 2012 - Sat. Jan. 20, 2012 - Ramona Canyon RV Resort

Prologue: I haven’t updated my travel blog before now, because I haven’t done anything worth writing about. When I first arrived here, I was sick for about a week, doing little more than existing, and the rest of the time recuperating. I’ve been at Ramona Canyon RV Resort for 18 days now, and will stay until this coming Tuesday, when I’ll move south to another resort. This stay has been good for me, as I felt no pressure to go anywhere or see anything. While I am close to San Diego, and there are a few things to see closer to the resort,...

Jan 4, 2012 - Tuesday, January 3, 2012 - Laguna Niguel to Ramona

Tuesday, January 3, 2012 - Laguna Niguel to Ramona I managed to get the motor home ready and hooked up the Jeep by 11:00 AM, then I checked the oil and tire air pressures before hitting the road. We headed out to the PCH, then onto I-5 south, to Oceanside, where Hwy 78 heads east to Ramona. The resort is 5 miles past Ramona, towards Julian, a small old gold town from California’s past. We arrived at the resort by 1:40, checking in at the office and being assigned a spot. I’ve never stayed at this resort before, but the manager, Ron,...

Dec 24, 2011 - Home

We are home now. What a great year we had. Back to the real world. We are busy with doctors, family, and honey do projects. Many of the projects are things I need to do in the trailer and maintenance items that I do only once a year. Quite a few of the projects involve wood working. And we have to plan for the future. Got to get the Living Trust updated, and check into the possibility of becoming a resident of another state, but keeping out house in Ramona.

Feb 10, 2011 - Transition Day

This morning at 9:00am David, Clairetta, Tom and Jan met to go for the morning walk. There is a nice trail where Clairetta and her friends walk. They walked 5 miles this morning. Jan is going for her 11:30am hair appointment over in Ramona where they use to live. Bet she will look good when we see her again. John and Tom will be driving the motorhomes today and I will drive the jeep as we transition over to Tony and Debbie's (friends of John and Jan) in Ramona. They were neighbors when they lived here in California. We will stay one night...

Nov 8, 2010 - Ramona, CA

Back home again. Not much happened since we left Montgomery, TX. We basically just took our time getting home. We visited with Priscilla and Micheal in Albany, TX. Then we stopped in Benson, AZ to visit with friends George and Phyllis who we met on our trip to Australia and New Zealand. Susan's hip continues to improve. She still needs to take it easy and not over do it. When she does, it hurts. At the end of this month she gets her ankle operated on.

Alaska 2010

May 6, 2010 - CA here we come!

It has been a busy week. Right after Rod left on Sunday, we started moving into the little RV. I had previously moved in some clothes by folding and putting away laundry each time the week before. But now came the serious stuff. First trip was all the stuff from the bathroom: shampoo, shower gel, stuff from the medicine cabinet, etc. etc. Monday I moved food: Canned goods, staples like flour, salt and sugar, breakfast food, coffee – well, you get the picture. I used one of my baskets so I couldn’t load up too much – which was fine for my...
