Aug 17, 2009 - Kansas City, MO

We went to KC to go to Unity Village. We planned to stay there about 3 days, but Deb's aunt died, so we stayed one week so she could preach the funeral. We visited the City Market and a Riverfront park on the Mighty MO. We were able to see the air show while we were at the river park. That was a special treat!

Jul 29, 2009 - Old Faithful

We visited Old Faithful on July 28 and the Canyon area of Yellowstone on July 29. Allen won the badge of courage when face to face with a real live buffalo! NOT!!! Pretty sure he was not much more brave with the moose and elk. Good thing we didn't see any bear or snakes.

We moved from Victor, Idaho to Flagg Ranch, Wyoming. Flagg Ranch is 2 miles south of the south entrance to Yellowstone. It is a resort that has a campground, cabins and a lodge. In addition there is a restaurant, convenience store, gas station and gift shop. It is situated just outside the Grand Teton National Park. From this point one can visit Yellowstone against the backdrop of the Grand Tetons. Truly an amazing place!

Jul 26, 2009 - Targhee National Forest

Our Sunday hike took us to the Ski Resort in the Targhee National Forest. We were up at about 10,000 feet. We are really feeling the effects of the high altitude. Nevertheless the county side is exquisite! People really do live in these tent type houses, called Yurts.

Jul 25, 2009 - A Day of Mission

We helped with the building of a Habitat for Humanity house on Saturday in Wilson, Wyoming. We did a lot of painting. Allen did some framing of trim work on the garage and we both stood on the roof of the first floor to paint the under side of the trim on the second floor. Next two days we both felt it!!! All over soreness!

On June 26th we traveled north to Pinole, CA. We went to Deb's Great Aunt Sadie's house on Appian Way. We rented a mini-van in Berkeley and drove to the Oakland Airport to pick up Deb's mom, Betty and her husband, Henry. We visited with Aunt Sadie for two nights and, went into San Fran. and then traveled north to Shingle Springs in El Dorado County for some really hot camping. The temperature rose to 107!!! YIKES!!! Oh well, that just meant more time for gambling in South Lake Tahoe and plenty of domino games at in the camper.

Jun 8, 2009 - Fort Worth Stockyard

Hi All, Today was a motor home maintenance day. We got an oil change and four new tires. Ouch! Oh well. While the work was being done we drove to Fort Worth and went to the old FW stockyard. We visited the Cowboy Hall of Fame and numerous gift shops and museums. I saw my very first cattle sale barn where they auction off stear to the highest bidder... Maybe some day I'll buy some cattle and I'll be the first cattle baron in Charleston?. We decided to spend another night in Denton/Dallas rather than get on the road so late in the day. We...

Jun 4, 2009 - Nashville Update

Hi All, Well we really enjoyed Nashville. The GOO (Grand Ole Opry) was fantastic. We heard living legands like Jean Shepard and Jimmy Dickens still performing at 88 years young. We stolled downtown and visited the old Ryman Auditorim and enjoyed some great Tenn ribs. We went to a diner theater last night and laughed until our jaw hurt listening to "Shotgun Red" made famous from the Hee Haw show. It was also a personal trip for me yesterday as I went back 55 years to 913 Petway Ave. We lived there when I was only about 4 years old. Also we...
