Apr 14, 2016 - meeting the Aussies

When we went to Australia in 2007, we were astonished when two separate couples who were regular listeners to our RV Navigator podcast, travelled to Sydney to meet us. We hit it off with Al and Sue and have been in as much contact as you could have with someone you barely know and have to make special arrangements to FaceTime with, since the time zones are so totally opposite. We were touched when Sue sent us a quilt made of fabrics with Australian symbols for Christmas one year. Since Australia is so far from anywhere else in the world...

Oct 23, 2009 - Santa Cruz

Still looking for campsites in interesting parts of the Bay Area, we made a short trip to the Costanoa KOA. It is located on the coast about 25 miles north of Santa Cruz. Matt had recommended we stop there because of the variety of areas to explore and because it is close to one of his favorite surfing spots. He was correct; it is an area with lots to explore. It was a short walk to the ocean from the campground, and just 3 miles to Ano Neuvo State Park, home to a large herd of elephant seals. The campground was very quiet during the week...

Feb 15, 2008 - CostaNoa II - Presidents day Weekend

This time we stayed at one of the premium sites since the campgounrd was full for the weekend and they are more spread out than the rest of the sites. We stayed in site 9 which was close enough to the restrooms and still had a very nice ocean view. The weather was beautiful the first day on Saturday so we went for the 3 mile hike along the beach and cliffs and had a picnic. We saw an elephant seal sleeping on the rocks. That night we cooked smores at one of the community fireplaces. Sunday was colder, we went to Bean Hollow State Beach...

Jan 18, 2008 - CostaNoa

We had a beautiful view of the ocean from our campsite - always request an ocean view site. We took a short hike to the ocean along the bluffs, it was 3 miles altogether and Shaye and Jordyn loved it. We saw elephant seals napping on the shore, they were huge! The weather was beautiful! We'll be coming back here again soon.

Oct 2, 2004 - San Francisco

Hello Y'All, I'm sitting in the lounge room of my mate Andy and wife Sophie's place in Sonoma CA. For the geeks amongst my friends, I'm wirelessly surfing the net via a DSL connection. The connection is 4Mbit download/512Kb upload DSL which costs US$34 per month with unlimited download and includes 100Mb webspace. Remember this is in a town which is 80-100km from San Francisco. Telstra has a lot to answer for their lousy ADSL service. Anyway, I hired a car at Oakland airport on Friday and headed out onto the freeways! Now on the plane,...
