Aug 17, 2014 - Monterey Motorsports Reunion at Laguna Seca

Another 6am start as we wanted to make sure we could get onto the parade lap at lunchtime which was restricted to the first 100 cars or so. We arrived in the Maserati parking at Laguna Seca at 7:45 and were the third car there... Oh well, at least we could get on the track. Before the laps we had a full program of racing to watch. And they sounded good! Our driver looking excited for the laps Lap of Laguna Seca

Aug 16, 2014 - Concorso and Laguna Seca

A 6am alarm call woke us all up, which was somewhat rude as we didn't get back to the hotel until nearly midnight... After a lot of coffee we loaded up the rental car with a change of clothes and cleaning supplies, and headed out to Black Horse golf course in Monterey where Concorso was being held. The VIP parking pass worked well and we were collected by golf cart and driven to the event. Some of the competition. A busy 90 minutes then ensued, with Richard giving direction and instructions to Ash and I. At 8:45 the judges appeared and...

Hello! It's pretty early in the morning and we have just packed our bags. We are traveling home just the same way as we came here. First we are going by car to the airport, then we are going to wait about one hour for the plane. We are flying with American airlines to Austria and then we will switch to an Norwegian plane that will take us to Stockholm Arlanda. We are traveling exactly the same way home that we did when we traveled here to USA. Staying here has been really fun! I have memories that I will remember for the rest of my life. I...

Mar 19, 2012 - Last day in Pebble Beach!

Hello again! Today have been the last day here in Pebble Beach! It's kind of sad because it have been really fun here. But at the same time I'm starting to miss Sweden a bit, so to stay here in one week have been an perfect holiday time. I don't know if I would like to stay another week because it feels like we have done most of the things that you can do here. Today we haven't played so much golf, we only stood on the ranch early in the morning and practiced on our long shoots. Instead of playing golf we went to an ranch that got lots of...

Mar 12, 2012 - Another day enjoying Pebble Beach

Hello again! Today we have played golf all day again! But this time we went to an another course that doesn't lie close to Pebble Beach. We had to drive trough the forest to get to the course. Going trough the forest made us excited, because we wondered how the course would look like and if we would like it. After 40 minutes driving trough the forest we finally arrived at the course. The first sight was of the big clubhouse, it was like an castle. And behind it lay the course, it looked like it was surrounded of the forest and that was...

Jun 24, 2010 - Bike Pebble Beach "17.5"

We began the famous 17.5 Mile Bike Route at the north end in Pacific Grove. It is just south of the the famed Monterey Aquarium. The bike path follows the scenic road through Pacific Grove and Pebble Beach and hugs the Pacific Coast. It twists and winds through magnificent vistas of the ocean. Several famed golf courses line the road, Spanish Bay, Spyglass Hill, Poppy Hill, and of course, Pebble Beach. The homes lining the road are spectacular mansions-homes of the rich and famous. The landscaping and views have been the subject of many...

May 7, 2009 - Pebble Beach 17-Mile Drive

The last time we visited California we wanted to take the famous 17-Mile Drive through Pebble Beach. They were closed for a golf tournament, so we missed it. To access this beautiful area you must enter one of five guard gates in Carmel or Pacific Grove where you pay $9.25 per car. You are also given a brochure with extensive information and a map. There are approximately 20 stops along the well marked route, each with a landmark of interest and paved...

Feb 19, 2009 - Miles and Miles of Beauty

Donna and I began our journey on the 19th of February early in the morning, up at 4am, we needed to get past the traffic and the city as soon as we could, I was still surprised at how many people had the same idea as we did, so there was traffic to get through, every city that we came to we had the same issue, traffic, the many cars, the people walking and the bicycles. We headed north towards the Pacific Coast Highway, all the way to the curves and the steep climbs, the rock slides and Donna reminding me to 'be careful'...'brake ! brake!'...

Jul 30, 2008 - A Tour Of Houses Belonging to People With Slightly More Means Than I

On the agenda today was to take the scenic 17 mile drive through Pebble Beach and to go see the former abode of William Randolph Hearst. As usual, the morning and early afternoon was cloudy and cold. I drove through Big Sur and was not terribly impressed. I have never been here before, so I'm not sure what was damaged by fire, but I didn't see anything charred. I don't know...it seems like the least pretty part of the coast, which is odd. Skip Pebble Beach. Unless you are a golf freak. It was a complete waste of time. Of course, the...
