May 28, 2017 - Time to Head Out...

Today we leave our Thousand Trails home for the summer months. It's just too darn hot here. We plan on returning first week of September to get ready for the steady arrivals and departures of our members. - We plan on getting an early start and only have about 185 miles planned for the day with a 2 day stop over in Wellton, Arizona. I did plan to leave tomorrow but thought today would be better than driving on Memorial Day. - Tomorrow we remember all those that have served their country not only in the military but also those firefighters...

May 14, 2017 - Last Day of Work

Yesterday was my last day of work for the season and the park here closes tomorrow. It will reopen September 15th and I am already anxious to start work next season. Can you tell I really like my job ? - We're going to hang around until the end of the month before we start traveling. First night on the road will be at Tier Drop RV Park about half way to Tucson and then on to Tucson for a week rest after that big 185 mile trip the first day and another 221 miles the second day. We have to get geared back into the travel mode since we've sat...

Apr 20, 2017 - Our New Summer Plans

As I said in my last journal entry we plan to go to New Mexico for the summer. Well on Easter Sunday we received a text from friends in New Mexico asking us if we were interested in house watching for them June, July and August. They have a very nice home on top of a mesa near Abiquiu and a RV pad a short distance from their home. Several years ago we stayed there for the summer and it was a peaceful, pleasant experience. - There is not much to do there but that's OK with us. Even the grocery store is a half hour drive south and Santa Fe is...

Apr 11, 2017 - What's Up ???

It's been awhile since my last entry and since then I've been to 2 different Emergency Rooms. My neck pain has gotten much worse and I believe the chiropractor really did me some harm. I've been to them before and they always helped me but this time he made matters worse. I went twice and cancelled the 3rd visit and went to the ER instead. The ER doctor really didn't do much except give me a shot of Kenalog in my shoulder. That didn't help either. The doc wanted to do a MRI but I have a $350 copay for MRI's so I declined. If I only had it...

Mar 22, 2017 - Palm Desert, CA

Mar 16, 2017 We are headed for Palm Desert to visit the Eiffert’s. Finally manage to squeeze the rig into our space, now it is time to clean the rig. We have 50 amps and sewer so I can wash the sheets and towels. Mar 17, 2017 Headed over to the Eiffert’s. Just Al was home, Mary is working the tennis tournament and Lynn and Ken are at Joshua Tree. Everyone was home by 4 so we were asked to stay for Corn Beef and Cabbage dinner. Lots of fun catching up. Mar 18, 2017 Found the Costco, Wells Fargo, Home Depot and the Wal-Mart. Temps are in...

Mar 19, 2017 - Judy Warned Me !!!

Yep, I should have listened to her. A couple weeks ago I woke up with a stiff neck and it just isn't getting any better. Anyway, on Thursday we had some gravel that I wanted to get raked up, shoveled up and moved. Judy said it was too hot outside and to forget about it. But being stubborn as I am I did it anyhow. My neck got much worse and now have pain in my left shoulder. - Friday I made an appointment with a chiropractor and he worked on me and $90 later I'm out the door with another appointment for Monday morning. Thursday night was...

Mar 16, 2017 - Visits to Joshua Trees and Borrego Wildflowers

The Two Parks that is in todays journal are huge. One is 600,000 acres and the other is 794,000 acres. - Last week we decided to take the trip to Joshua Tree National Park and check out the blooms on the trees but we were maybe 2 weeks too early as there weren't many blooms in full glory yet. There were a few completely open but the best is yet to come. However we still enjoyed the trip as we took our doggies with us and we didn't have to worry about them. We took a picnic lunch and enjoyed it at one of the day use areas, I think the same...

Feb 21, 2017 - Fun at the Jet Jam and the Car Show

February has been full of fun and I thought I better do a journal entry before it is over. I've been slacking or should I say I've been lazy writing and I'm truly sorry and I'll try and keep everyone current on our happenings. - Earlier in the month was the La Quinta Old Town Car Show, this has been the second year in a row that we have attended. We love to walk through the park and look at all the rides. About the time you checked them all out it's time for lunch and we eat at Stuft Pizza and it's excellent food. We always get their lunch...

Feb 14, 2017 - Thoudsand Trails Palm Desert

1/28/17: Finally, we took off from our home in Vancouver with our dear friends Mark and Patti Shore. The first leg was to Eugene to pick up a new spring for their awning as theirs had snapped. Then we headed to the freeway and south. On the way, we discovered the alternator in our Motorhome had gone south before us! We drove to a battery exchange in Springfield and naturally, they didn’t have one. We searched for the auto parts stores, (6), and purchased one. As it turned out, it was the wrong one and by now the batteries were drained and...

Jan 24, 2017 - Rain is over !!!

The rains we had over the past week or so has been yucky but the state sure does need the long overdue moisture. I hear that the Sierra mountain range has 140% of it's usual snowpack this winter. All this hopefully will bring California out of the severe drought stage. - The main reason for my post is to bring attention to some good news on the Weather Channel. Starting Monday we should be having daytime times in the 70's. Now that's my kind of weather. I would like it to be warmer that that but 70's in the winter is just fine for me. These...

Jan 19, 2017 - Rain and then more Rain !!!

Well, I made it through another birthday a week ago and they seem to be flying by a little too fast to suit me but at least I'm living the life that I want to live. Many, many people live and work all day to pay for the home, cars and gadgets that they can only use a few hours after their long work day. I know, I used to be one of them but not any longer, haven't been for a little over 10 years now. We love our lifestyle and wouldn't change it for the world. - Now about my title in todays journal. Yes we had more rain than we would like or...

Jan 3, 2017 - Happy New Year

Wishing all my journal readers a Happy New Year. I hope that the year will meet all your expectations and that you will be happy and healthy. That's all I ever ask for, that's all I need. - New Years Eve we attended a Elton John concert at Spotlight 29 Casino. Not really Sir Elton John but the impersonator did a fantastic job. About all we do at the casino is go for the entertainment and sometimes for the food. Very seldom do we ever play the slots and when we do Judy and I may split a $20 bill and leave when it's gone. Even the buffet...
