Oct 18, 2018 - First Month Done

I already have a month done on our 8 month job here at the RV park. Only working 3 days a week is almost the opposite of working a real life job. I work three 8 hour days and have Sat-Sun-Mon-Tues off. In real life...it's like having a holiday weekend every week but even better with 4 days off. - I just bought tickets for the Cathedral City Hot Air Balloon Festival. Actually the festival is free but I got tickets to watch the balloon glow on the rooftop of one of the buildings with a catered BBQ dinner. During the ascension of the balloons...

Oct 5, 2018 - Indian Canyons & Palm Springs Tram

Very active day. Started out the morning at the Indian Canyons. This is apparently on an Indian Reservation for the Cahuilla Indians. It basically operates like a state park. Small admission fee, lots of hiking trails. I started out by taking the Victor Loop. This hike heads out Palm Canyon Trail then swings back to the start via the Victor trail. The loop is 3 miles long. The first mile on the Palm Canyon Trail is mostly shaded by the large, at times rather dense Palm trees. However, the 2 miles return trip is out in the open. You’d have...

Oct 4, 2018 - "I've Been Through the Desert..."

I turned east today so technically I guess I’m headed home although I still have 7 weeks to go. Today, my destination was ultimately Palm Springs but I wanted to swing by Slab City near Niland, CA first. Hit a little bit of rain east of San Diego. I believe this is the first rain I’ve had since Vancouver and it wasn’t anything to write home about. Didn’t take long out of San Diego on I-8 for civilization to disappear. So now, since I stopped talking about traffic, I’m going to start in on the terrain again! I went over some mountains that...

Sep 22, 2018 - First Work Week Done.

I got my first work week behind us now. It was not easy when I got accustomed to being lazy over the 4 summer months. I know, summer is only 3 months long but when you live in Paradise it seems like summer all the time. - We had problems with one of our roof mounted air conditioners and had to have it replaced. Ouch!!! $1866 installed so I guess it's a good thing I'm working. With the temps in the hundreds since we arrived it was a huge burden lifted when the new unit started blowing the cold air. We can stay very comfortable with one most...

Sep 8, 2018 - We Arrived Safely.

We arrived safely at our winter destination and got the RV set up in our leased site. It was a struggle because of the temps but "WE" did it. Judy has been giving me a helping hand now to get set up outside, I would have a hard time without her. Maybe I'll keep her around a while longer. She's the love of my life, I only wish our destiny would have brought us together sooner. We had such a "fantastic" life together when we were younger. We still have a fantastic life but no more dancing the night away like we use to. - Let's fast forward to...

Mar 14, 2018 - Our New Furrion Oven

When we bought our new 2006 Elite Suite it did not have an oven in it, just a convection Microwave. My wife, Judy, wanted an oven so that was included with the purchase. We did not specify what we wanted and the dealer put a Amana in that was a POS from day one. We lived with that until a couple weeks ago when I yanked that POS out and started my search for exactly what we wanted. We wanted a Stainless Steel so it would match the MW and Fridge that we had already replaced over the years. Next the most important thing was it had to have a...

Feb 18, 2018 - We're Going to be Greek Today !!!

Judy and I are going to be Greek today. We are going to attend the 22nd Annual Greek Festival at Saint George Greek Orthodox Church here in Palm Desert. We went last year and we sure did enjoy the activities. One thing I can say about the Greeks is that they sure can "party". In the center of the festival they leave enough room for the attendees to get up and dance and they sure do love to dance. I plan to spend more time watching the dances today and of course I have to have a Gyro. Hopefully we can do a Church tour today. The best thing...

Jan 22, 2018 - January is Flying By

January sure is flying by, in another week or so Punxatawney Phil will be up on stage again to see if he sees his shawdow. For the sake of the Northeasteners I hope you get an early spring. I could not live in that cold anymore. - We made it to the Dog Show this year. There was a total of 3,354 dogs entered in the judging. We love going to the show but next year we plan on checking out the agility and obedience parts of the competition. There were 41 Papillons and 31 Newfies in the show and those are our favorities. I did see a few others...

Jan 1, 2018 - Happy New Year !!!

Happy New Year Everyone. I wish you a healthy and happy year to come. - Can you believe I stayed up until after the ball dropped ??? Ha, that's New York time and I was in bed about my normal time. It's been years, since I was up till Midnight on New Years Eve. In fact it was back when we lived in Pennsylvania in the Eastern Time Zone but I was only 45 years old back then. Now about the only time I'm up past 9 or 10 is when we go to see the shows at Spotlight 29 Casino here. - Anyway, Happy New Year. - Bob, Judy and Our3dogs

Dec 26, 2017 - Merry Christmas Everyone

Wishing everyone out there a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. - I had a rough night on Christmas Eve and didn't get much sleep due to the beginning of a cold or some other bug that caught up with me. I still went into work yesterday morning at 9 AM but only lasted a little over a hour before they sent me home. Immediately I wrapped up in two blankets and hit the sofa all bundled up with dogs beside me to help keep me warm. A little after noon Judy asked if I wanted some noodle soup and it sure sounded good and I gobbled it down...

Nov 29, 2017 - Another Month Slips by....

Can you believe another month has passed by since my last journal entry ? The days and weeks are going by way too fast and soon it will be Christmas. Hopefully after the holidays are over things will be back to normal. - We made our yearly get-a-way to Oceanside right before Thanksgiving and returned on T-day. It was not as enjoyable as years past this time as we attended a Memorial Service for Judy's daughter's Father-in-law. He was up in years and I'm sure now is enjoying his heavenly reward. He sure was a very cool man, I always enjoyed...

Oct 29, 2017 - It's Been a Month...

Wow, it's been a month since my last journal entry. What's that tell you? Either I've been working or I've been having lots of fun playing. It's been both, and actually working is also having fun. I really enjoy what I do here as a Ranger. My work hours has changed since we first opened for the season, now I start work at 9AM on Friday and Monday and at 7AM on Saturday. Having 3 days in a row off is great and having Sundays off is nice but the days off sure go by fast. - Speaking of going by fast, my life is going by way to fast. It's hard...
