Mar 14, 2018 - Our New Furrion Oven
When we bought our new 2006 Elite Suite it did not have an oven in it, just a convection Microwave. My wife, Judy, wanted an oven so that was included with the purchase. We did not specify what we wanted and the dealer put a Amana in that was a POS from day one. We lived with that until a couple weeks ago when I yanked that POS out and started my search for exactly what we wanted. We wanted a Stainless Steel so it would match the MW and Fridge that we had already replaced over the years. Next the most important thing was it had to have a...Jump to full entry
Feb 18, 2018 - We're Going to be Greek Today !!!
Judy and I are going to be Greek today. We are going to attend the 22nd Annual Greek Festival at Saint George Greek Orthodox Church here in Palm Desert. We went last year and we sure did enjoy the activities. One thing I can say about the Greeks is that they sure can "party". In the center of the festival they leave enough room for the attendees to get up and dance and they sure do love to dance. I plan to spend more time watching the dances today and of course I have to have a Gyro. Hopefully we can do a Church tour today. The best thing...Jump to full entry

January sure is flying by, in another week or so Punxatawney Phil will be up on stage again to see if he sees his shawdow. For the sake of the Northeasteners I hope you get an early spring. I could not live in that cold anymore. - We made it to the Dog Show this year. There was a total of 3,354 dogs entered in the judging. We love going to the show but next year we plan on checking out the agility and obedience parts of the competition. There were 41 Papillons and 31 Newfies in the show and those are our favorities. I did see a few others...Jump to full entry
Jan 1, 2018 - Happy New Year !!!
Happy New Year Everyone. I wish you a healthy and happy year to come. - Can you believe I stayed up until after the ball dropped ??? Ha, that's New York time and I was in bed about my normal time. It's been years, since I was up till Midnight on New Years Eve. In fact it was back when we lived in Pennsylvania in the Eastern Time Zone but I was only 45 years old back then. Now about the only time I'm up past 9 or 10 is when we go to see the shows at Spotlight 29 Casino here. - Anyway, Happy New Year. - Bob, Judy and Our3dogsJump to full entry
Dec 26, 2017 - Merry Christmas Everyone
Wishing everyone out there a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. - I had a rough night on Christmas Eve and didn't get much sleep due to the beginning of a cold or some other bug that caught up with me. I still went into work yesterday morning at 9 AM but only lasted a little over a hour before they sent me home. Immediately I wrapped up in two blankets and hit the sofa all bundled up with dogs beside me to help keep me warm. A little after noon Judy asked if I wanted some noodle soup and it sure sounded good and I gobbled it down...Jump to full entry
Nov 29, 2017 - Another Month Slips by....
Can you believe another month has passed by since my last journal entry ? The days and weeks are going by way too fast and soon it will be Christmas. Hopefully after the holidays are over things will be back to normal. - We made our yearly get-a-way to Oceanside right before Thanksgiving and returned on T-day. It was not as enjoyable as years past this time as we attended a Memorial Service for Judy's daughter's Father-in-law. He was up in years and I'm sure now is enjoying his heavenly reward. He sure was a very cool man, I always enjoyed...Jump to full entry
Oct 29, 2017 - It's Been a Month...
Wow, it's been a month since my last journal entry. What's that tell you? Either I've been working or I've been having lots of fun playing. It's been both, and actually working is also having fun. I really enjoy what I do here as a Ranger. My work hours has changed since we first opened for the season, now I start work at 9AM on Friday and Monday and at 7AM on Saturday. Having 3 days in a row off is great and having Sundays off is nice but the days off sure go by fast. - Speaking of going by fast, my life is going by way to fast. It's hard...Jump to full entry
Sep 29, 2017 - 2 Weeks
I have 2 weeks of work under my belt now and everything work wise seems to be going OK, that is. working as a Ranger here at TTPS. - Working at making our 8 month winter home more comfortable and enjoyable has been another story. It's been a little on the hot side and it's best to do your work in the mornings and by the time I'm done my T shirt is soaked and it's time for a shower. This has been going on now for 17 days but I think we are now settled in. I joke about it and say I have to go to work at the gatehouse so I can rest. - We have...Jump to full entry
Sep 14, 2017 - We Finally Arrived !!!
After what seemed like weeks, oh, I guess it was weeks, we arrived at our winter home and are in the process of getting our site set up, cleaned up and will make it cozy for us. - I was surprised at the height of the grass around the sprinklers and also the condition of the grass away from the sprinklers. No one has mowed since we left the end of May, when you lease a site all work like that is up to the lease holder. It will take a couple weeks for me to get the site back to where it was when we left. - Getting our wood steps assembled...Jump to full entry
May 28, 2017 - Time to Head Out...
Today we leave our Thousand Trails home for the summer months. It's just too darn hot here. We plan on returning first week of September to get ready for the steady arrivals and departures of our members. - We plan on getting an early start and only have about 185 miles planned for the day with a 2 day stop over in Wellton, Arizona. I did plan to leave tomorrow but thought today would be better than driving on Memorial Day. - Tomorrow we remember all those that have served their country not only in the military but also those firefighters...Jump to full entry
May 14, 2017 - Last Day of Work
Yesterday was my last day of work for the season and the park here closes tomorrow. It will reopen September 15th and I am already anxious to start work next season. Can you tell I really like my job ? - We're going to hang around until the end of the month before we start traveling. First night on the road will be at Tier Drop RV Park about half way to Tucson and then on to Tucson for a week rest after that big 185 mile trip the first day and another 221 miles the second day. We have to get geared back into the travel mode since we've sat...Jump to full entry
Apr 20, 2017 - Our New Summer Plans
As I said in my last journal entry we plan to go to New Mexico for the summer. Well on Easter Sunday we received a text from friends in New Mexico asking us if we were interested in house watching for them June, July and August. They have a very nice home on top of a mesa near Abiquiu and a RV pad a short distance from their home. Several years ago we stayed there for the summer and it was a peaceful, pleasant experience. - There is not much to do there but that's OK with us. Even the grocery store is a half hour drive south and Santa Fe is...Jump to full entry
