Sep 10, 2016 - Lassen National Park, CA

Sept 10, 2016: Traveled from Fernley, NV to the North Entrance of Lassen Volcanic NP this morning. Another beautiful day but while in the park we noticed a smoky haze and soon realized it was smoke from the fires they have had in this part of the country. During our travels we went through some areas that had been burnt. Smoke smell and haze filled the valleys as we departed the southern entrance to Lassen NP. We drove to a town called Oroville, CA and there we are staying the night. Tomorrow we go to Yosemite NP and will be camping there...

Yuma 21012

May 13, 2012 - Still Visiting; Still Hot

Yesterday, the park filled up with yet another group of rigs for a rally, and some campers with a bunch of kids. The RVers were quiet and went to bed early, but the campers stayed up really late, including all the kids who were running around, screaming, past my bedtime. Well, as we all know, payback is a bitch. This morning, we were up and at 'em at 6:00 am and unfortunately (depending on how you were looking at it), all the kids who were sleeping in nearby tents also woke up at 6:00 am. We were on our way by 7:00. -- Our first stop was to...

Pretty Damn Nice!

Oct 17, 2011 - Oroville

After an overnight stop (and winning $75 at the Casino) at 7 Feathers, we landed at the Feather Falls Casino KOA. We are really NOT addicted to casinos, but both 7 Feathers in Oregon, and Feather Falls in Oroville have great RV parks. We had a great time visiting Greg and Janis Morehead in Oroville. Greg, Cal and Irma worked together for the City of Salem for many years. Cal and Greg played music, and we all caught up. We ended up making about $100 at the casino while we were there too!

Oct 7, 2009 - Lake Oroville

Our decision to go to Lake Oroville Recreation Area came pretty much by chance. It was a little bit off our path but we had never spent time in the “gold country” so this seemed a good time to go. This area is a mecca for boating and water sports, especially in the summer when temps often reach 100 degrees. The fall is a good time to visit, temps were comfortable and the campground was not crowded. The area was very dry and susceptible to fire. Lake Oroville was formed when the Feather River was dammed by the world’s largest earthen dam. It...

Apr 12, 2009 - Trip 8: River Reflections RV Park, Oroville, CA

This was our extended Easter weekend. We picked up the trailer from the RV service and quickly packed our extra stuff and food before leaving up highway 65. It had been raining and the forecast was calling for clearing during the weekend. We arrived at the park, and got a spot near the river. What boggles the mind is why they put the river front spots in so your trailer or RV rear-end (where the view is) is facing away from the river. Roads were paved with cement pads, full hookups, and cable. The park is pretty well kept, and was about...

Aug 12, 2008 - Oroville Lake, August 2008, Weekend trip

For our first outing, we decided we needed to go some place that was familiar. Having camped and boated at Bidwell Canyon State Park on Oroville Lake, we knew the campground and most importantly the road to the campground. Drought had taken its toll on the lake and most boaters had abandoned the lake, so getting reservations was easy. We pulled in on a Friday afternoon and were offered a deep site in the north loop. Backing the trailer in was a bit of a chore, it had a mind of its own, and when we did our parking lot practice, there were no...

Oct 27, 2007 - Oroville, CA.

We had a nice drive over the Siskiyou Pass which was no problem with our new truck. We were glad we decided to go ahead and get it instead of trying to get by with our old truck. We arrived at our new camp in Oroville called "River Reflections RV Park", located on the Feather River. It is a nice park and the Feather River at this point is slow moving and looks more like a small lake. Clear water and very pretty. We had some time on our hands as our son, Mike, was not going to be able to meet us until later so we did a little exploring in...

Jun 22, 2007 - Oroville, CA

For the past two days, we have been at a very nice RV park on the American Indian Reservation. We are getting some good experience moving from park to park, setting up, tearing down, etc. Other than that, this has not been an exciting stop. We have learned that the house air conditioning works, but we will do our best to plan around 90+ degreee weather.

Mar 8, 2007 - A stop in Oroville, CA

We spent several nights at the Feather Falls KOA in Oroville so we could time our transit of the high mountain passes in northern California between storms. Several large snowstorms had made travel along the north end of Interstate 5 a real problem during the previous week, so we wanted to let the heavy snow and road ice melt before heading north. This is one of the nicest KOA parks we have visited. It is only several months old and is operated by the adjacent Indian casino. While here, we found a good number of caches and took a side trip...
