Oct 21, 2016 - Oceanside CA - Reggi’s parents grave

One thing that Reggi wants to do each time we are in Oceanside is to put flowers on and clean her parent’s grave. The cemetery removes all the flowers (real ones) every Thursday, so new flowers are put on the grave every Friday. We clean the grave just before we are to leave. We also fix and replace if necessary the wind chimes. This time we put up a new one and repaired one that has been hanging over the grave for the last 8 years. Reggi also put a flag which made a great reflection on the grave marker. We then sat in our chairs just...

Oct 19, 2016 - Oceanside CA - Mickey

Mickey is a dear friend of ours for the past 15 plus years. Mickey helped Reggi with some tax and financial issues associated with her Dad. Mickey’s husband was a Col in the Marines and she has traveled all over the world, her home is filled with memorabilia from all those years. One in particular that is amazing is a Japanese “Kimona” hanging on the wall.

Oct 18, 2016 - Los Angeles to Oceanside by Train

Well our trip experience back to Oceanside was a much different from our trip to LA. No Issues. The ride was very interesting in the sense we saw things that were unnerving - homeless living along the tracks, under bridges, and the trees along the trip. They are in very town. It was very sad to see. We also were blessed to see the beautiful Pacific coast line from San Clemente to Oceanside. While passing through Camp Pendleton we saw a helicopter lifting off with marines inside. It was good to be back home; however, we do miss being with...

Oct 7, 2016 - Oceanside CA - Paul & Margene Weber’s Home & Sculptures

Paul & Margene Weber have been friends of Reggi’s for almost 50 years. They bought a lot and built a home that has an amazing view of the mountains and the Pacific Ocean, they can see all the way to Catalina Island. Just beautiful. Paul was a veterinarian here in Oceanside, when he retired, he had to be doing something to keep himself busy. He went to the local community college to find something that he might like to do. He found sculpturing using “tig welding” which is Tungsten Inert Gas (TIG) Welding. His media is stainless steel and...

Oct 1, 2016 - Oceanside CA - Michael’s birthday

Well today was my 72nd birthday. Reggi’s brother Frank and his wife Connie Mae came over with some gifts (a fight jacket and red wine for Michael and Slivovitz (Czech liquor) for Reggi). As well as appetizers of Shrimp Poke and turkey & ham wraps. Later Friends (Reggi has know them for over 50 years (except for Fred’s significant other) came over for drinks and then we went to the Elks Lodge for dinner. We reminisced, laughed and had a great time celebrating Michael’s birthday. While there was Karaoke none of us (thank God) got up and sang,...

Sep 25, 2016 - Oceanside CA - Alanna, Tom & Caia

Alanna, Tom & Caia drove down from Santa Monica to spend Sunday and Monday with us. It was so wonderful to finally be able to meet Caia, our 6th grandchild. She is very precious. She is so happy and very smart. We visited in their motel room then we went to a local playground so Caia could climb, run and explore. Reggi got to hold her for the first time, she was still leery of me, have to wait until Monday. We had a great meal at a local Thai restaurant, Caia loved smelling the fresh roses.

Sep 23, 2016 - Oceanside Ca - Visiting Friends at the Oceanside Elks Lodge

Jacky, George, Fred & Peggy came over for drinks and then we went to dinner at the Elks Lodge - a delicious prime rib dinner. Jacky, George, Fred and Fred’s late wife Sue were friend with Reggi and previous husband Frank from the mid 60s. After Fred’s wife passed on, Fred met Peggy and have been companion ever since. We had a great time, eating the prime rib and dancing to great period music (50s, 60s and early 70s).

Sep 18, 2016 - Oceanside CA

We arrived a day early, the temperatures in the desert between Yuma and Oceanside was going to be 110+, so we left really early for us and made it to the Coastal mountains around 9:30am. It is a good thing we did, the climb out of the desert was long, steep and very stressful. We managed only 30 to 35 miles an hour up all the grades, the 18 Wheeler were also going as slow or slower than we were. We were very glad we got through it and will NEVER travel I-8 with our 5th Wheel again, to stressful. the speed limit for cars was 75mph while for...

Mar 3, 2016 - Oceanside CA

Another day is upon us here on the coast of California. We visited the Farmers Market downtown which they block off some of the streets to have this. The market did have some farm grown fruits and vegetables, but there were several set ups that were food, clothes and just some junk. The city library is on the corner of the market and they have some good deals on books which I did purchase. After this we returned to the motorhome and with return when the afternoon market starts at 3 pm. The afternoon market was much bigger, they closed off 6...

Mar 2, 2016 - Oceanside CA

Another day starting out very foggy. We are about 4 blocks from the beach and the fog has enveloped the campground this morning, plus it is a little chilly again. Candy had an appointment to get her nails done so when she was gone I rode down to the beach. The tide was high as the picture shows with a couple of surfers out waiting for the wave. Not many big waves but they did get a few as I was watching. Down here the squirrels live in the rocks along the beach instead of the trees, guess they like to be on the ocean front also. We took a...

Mar 1, 2016 - Oceanside CA

Decided that we would stay another day in Oceanside and leave on Thursday. There is a large Farmers Market on the pier on Thursday’s so we visit it before we leave. Today we drove down to the small boat basin and tour the beach. It is very foggy around here and kind of chilly where you need a light jacket. There were some surfers out in the ocean waiting for the big waves which did come. They mostly got wiped out before they could get to the beach on their boards. Stopped at some of the shops along the boardwalk but it is always the same...
