Mar 4, 2015 - 30 Hour Famine

Starting Friday at lunchtime, our mission team participated in a 30 hour famine where we didn't eat for thirty hours. During that time, the youth gathered at the church and played games and had quiet time. We also spent the night at the church. At 1:00 on Saturday, members of the church joined us in packaging over 10,000 meal packets. The organization we did this through was Stop Hunger Now. The packages will be distributed all over Africa. We packaged an additional 40 packets (each will hold about 6 meals) that will be sent to Peru. The...

Jun 7, 2014 - Novato, CA.

We have reservations for the next 3 nights in Novato, CA. It's not far from San Francisco and the beaches we want to visit. Once we got to the RV park the kids began nagging to go to the beach so we took a drive over to Bodaga Beach. Being the Desert Rats we are.... we didn't think to take jackets. After all it wasn't cold at the Motorhome. It was a very large and nice beach. Lots of people enjoying a Saturday evening at the beach. We made the best of the cool weather and had a good time.

Apr 2, 2013 - Getting ready for our adventure

Were packed and ready to go in the morning. Our main destination is Monument Valley. But were takin a circle to get there. We hope you enjoy our journal, we enjoy hearing from you all too! After not using the journal it takes me a bit to get use to it. I think I got the map correct so you can see where were at. This will be the longest that were gone almost 2 months. As I said the main reason for the trip was so Bob could see Monument Valley and check out where John Wayne made his movies. But if you know me I have to find some interesting...

PARKED AT A METER AND WALKED THRU A VERY NICE NEIGHBOURHOOD CALLED MARINA, VERY WELL KEPT ROW HOUSES, UPPER MIDDLE CLASS NEIGHBOURHOOD,EVERYTHING MANICURED. MUCH LIKE WESTMOUNT ABOVE...

Aug 17, 2012 - Travel Day - Muir Woods

Today was a travel day – but only 60 miles so a really short day for us. We will be in San Francisco for 8 nights so Cheryl called to book our Alcatraz trip for any one of those days. We had been told to call a couple of days before we wanted to go – WRONG !!!!! They had 4 tickets available for the next day on the last night tour – other than that they were booked 6 WEEKS out!!!! You talk about panic – Alcatraz has been on my list for 19 years!!!!!! We took them for the Fritz’s and us and immediately started looking into a Plan B for the...

Apr 14, 2012 - End of the trail!

Hi, We made it home today. We ended up staying in Bakersfield on more day due to the weather forecast. We would had been driving right in the storm heading down the path to home. Yesterday it just poured and the wind blew. Headed out early this morning to a bit of rain but as we continued north we got more sun. We arrived home to a very beautiful sunny day (having that sun attached to our trailer is a hard one to contain!) but see we made it home with the sun. So until the next time were on the road we'll keep you informed our our...

Aug 14, 2011 - Were HOME!

We made it home safe and sound. It was a great trip and we always seem to learn something on these trips. I hope you all enjoyed the trip as well. Just think you won't have to be put through pictures and our stories, LOL Thanks again for all you emails and phone calls too! Oh Kiki was so excited she ran around and rolling in the dirt and crying like "I'm home, I'm home" but then she came back into the trailer so I guess she was ok after being pinned up. I think she is out looking to kill something after watching all those birds at the...

Aug 26, 2010 - Thursday, Day 9

The first part of the drive today was a continuance of the "loneliest" road....nothing much to see. But as soon as we got thru the mountains and into California, we started to see flat farming area, cattle, grapevines. What a welcome sight compared to the barren landscapes we'd been viewing the past few days! It was a very short ride today - only 3 1/2 hours. We are staying in Novato, which is in Merin County, right across the Golden Gate bridge from San Francisco. there was no RV park close to Cathy & Jon's house; we chose this one for...

Aug 19, 2010 - Northwest adventure

Left today Aug 19,2010 about 10:30 am. We arrived at Eureka, Ca at the Elks Lodge here. Sky is overcast and cool. Already met some friendly Elks. Looking foreward to checking out the Somoma cookhouse, Carson Mansion and at this time the Humbolt fair is in full swing so might check out the horse racing which is held in Ferndale! Was cool when we left home and got warm as we drove but were back to the fiftys! We will be here for about 3 nites. Not a a bad deal with Elks here. Were having dinner here Friday as they have steak night and you...

Aug 5, 2009 - Muir Woods & San Francisco

We wait till after 10:00 this morning to leave. The traffic is horrible here. Sitting in traffic is not very pleasant. I have my extra cup of coffee and Bob checks out the car. We are so gun shy. Going into San Francisco will be a real road test for the car. We are off. The old faithful green cooler is packed with water, cokes, fruit, cheese & crackers. Last but not least the oatmeal cookies. We buy these cookies from Safeway and are they delicious. We drive less than 20 miles to get to the Muir Woods. Bob and I were here about 25 years...

Aug 4, 2009 - Napa Valley & Wine Tasting

We hope to get back on track today with our daily adventures. The kind of adventures we have been having are not my cup of tea. I pack sandwiches & fruit for our lunch on the road. The green cooler hasn't been used in several days. With fingers crossed, we are off for a day in Napa Valley. Bob and I can't keep our eyes off the temperature gauge. Car seems to be running fine. Our first stop is Viansa Winery. I taste several different kinds of cheese. They all were very good. The one I liked the best was a Goat Cheese that had a smoke...
