Sep 6, 2016 - Great Stop for Suzie

Our next stop is in Morgan Hill, which is just south of San Jose where we lived 10 years ago and just north of Gilroy – home of the famous Gilroy Garlic Festival. Morgan Hill has grown tremendously since we lived in San Jose, becoming a San Jose suburb with commuter rail service north all the way to San Francisco. We made sure to have a reservation set up and arrive early as it is Labor Day weekend. We found a nice spot and set up camp, and headed over to the Olympic size swimming pool. We figured we would enjoy it before the all the kids...

May 19, 2013 - Late Spring in Central California

Morgan Hill Thousand Trails RV Park, Morgan Hill, CA Sunday, May 19, 2013 noon In the last two weeks I’ve moved to central CA south of San Francisco. I spent a week in Coarsegold at the Park Sierra Escapees Co-op Park. (Escapees is a club for people who use their RVs as a full-time home.) The park is situated in the Sierra foothills about 25 miles SW of the southern entrance to Yosemite and 30 miles east of Fresno. It is a very hilly area where the RV sites have been carved out of the hilly terrain among the Live Oaks and numerous other...

Oct 7, 2012 - Dodging the Santa Anas

Morgan Hill Thousand Trails RV Park, Morgan Hill, CA Sunday, Oct. 7, 2012 1 pm I’ve spent the last 3 weeks dodging the heat of California brought on by Santa Ana winds blowing from the desert toward the coast. In September and October, high pressure zones build in over California, blocking the sea breeze and leading to temperatures in the upper 90’s and low 100’s. Most of the RV parks in California are either expensive ($$/night) commercial parks with 50 amps of power but no shade and narrow RV parking, or large tree-filled parks built 30...

Aug 29, 2012 - San Francisco & San Jose

Of course we had to stop at the Golden Gate Bridge for some pictures. A new pavillion on the San Francisco side has just opened and it is a great place for viewing the bridge. Another beautiful day. Left the bridge at rush hour (not good planning) and headed to the San Jose area to see Rick's brother Ron. The 70 mile trip took 2 1/2 hours. Only able to spend one night with them because we have reservations tomorrow in Yosemite.

Apr 17, 2012 - Family, doctors, more family and friends sprinkled in too

We arrived at the Morgan Hill Thousand Trails Park on March 16. The next 3 weeks were a whirlwind mix of visiting parents, sisters, nieces, and my Grandma for her 100th birthday on March 18. She is really my step-grandmother being my step-dad's mother. My maternal and paternal grandparents died early in my life. So I call this delightful, sweet lady my grandma. We call her Grandma Darling. She is quite healthy overall. Her memory, eye sight, and hearing are the things that have deteriorated the most. She walks to breakfast, lunch and dinner...

Oct 21, 2011 - In the Bay Area...

October 7th....Today was a travel day.... We left Jackson and headed for the Coyote Valley RV and GOLF Resort, which will be our home base for a couple of weeks in the greater Bay Area. At approximately 140 miles, this was a short and easy trip. We rolled in to and set up at the new park by 3:00pm and just spent the evening relaxing. October 8th....We spent the day at the Frys.com PGA golf tournament - the course is only 10 miles, or so, from our RV park, so the opportunity was just too good to pass up. Tiger Woods was entered for the first...

Jun 12, 2011 - Day 12 - Coarsegold to Morgan Hill, CA

The morning was gorgeous as it has been every day we were at the Sierra of the Pines Park. We checked out about 10:00am. We had a coupon for half off so our bill for the week was $56.50 and the included the extra charge for electricity. A bargain for sure even at full price. We will definitely put he park on our return list. We were very low on gas so I sweated all the way to the first gas station about 15 miles. No need. We got $200 (50 gals) and called it full. I didn’t mention that on our last trip to Yosemite, I didn’t fill up before we...

Dec 12, 2010 - Morgan Hill, CA - Five Months Later

We headed north to Morgan Hill and a visit with our daughter Anne. We had an uneventful trip, and were settled in shortly after we got there. We let Anne know we had arrived and made plans for them to come to dinner the next day. We included two weekends for this visit so we had more opportunities to see them. The next morning I put a pot roast in the slow cooker so I didn’t have to worry about the timing of dinner and they could come when ever they could get away. I hope everyone knows about crock pot liners, they are wonderful. The...

Oct 17, 2010 - Pinnacles National Monument

Oct 17, 2010 Yesterday was shopping, having lunch with Mike’s brother and son, more shopping, eating yogurt, more shopping, bought a MiFi for our laptops so now we have WiFi anywhere, even on the road. Last night Mike’s friend of many years came to visit. Weather yesterday was near perfect, a little overcast in the morning but clearing in the afternoon. Today was another day of touring. First I checked my e-mails and got all of my birthday greetings. Thank you to everyone. Then it was off to the Pinnacles National Monument. Pinnacles in...

Jul 19, 2010 - A New Chapter Begins

As everyone says when an amusement park ride takes off, “Here we go…” We had expected to start this adventure sooner, but Mark had some eye surgery we hadn’t planned on, so we got a later start. He is doing fine and the Dr. said he should start seeing results in about a month. We arrived at Morgan Hill Fri. Mark driving the motor home and pulling the Flex, while I followed along in the van. We were expecting the hot weather here and knew it would be a real adjustment for us. We are use to temperatures in the 70s that we typically get on the...
