Sep 18, 2016 - Must be California

From Acton we had a short drive across Pearblossom Highway to the 215 and down through the Cajon Pass. There had been a fire here just a couple of weeks ago and there were a number of homes burned that we could see from the road. It looked like the fire had not jumped the freeway, but we know that the road had been closed for a couple of days. Guess that’s life in California. Our RV Park is in Menifee which is near Temecula. When we first came to California we came to the Temecula Inn and Golf Course a couple of times with friends, and...

Nov 26, 2015 - Happy Thanksgiving

Happy Thanksgiving to everyone. We all have many things to be thankful for today and one is our freedom here in our great country. Judy and I watch the news and often comment on how it would be to live in one of the other countries. NO SO GOOD. Bombs exploding in your neighborhood and gunfire night and day. We just cannot imagine it. I am truly thankful and lucky to live in this great country of ours. - When we come to this area of California we always enjoy going to Oceanside so we can get a taste of California life with the ocean, surf...

ON THE ROAD AGAIN

Nov 14, 2015 - Our Plans Changed Again

That's right, we changed our plans again which is nothing new for us. - Yesterday I had a appointment about an hour south of here and the drive south on I-215 and then on I-15 was the deciding factor, especially on the way back. There were 6 lanes of traffic either sitting still or racing down the interstate to find yet another traffic jam. I can only say that I'm glad we had the Jeep and not the truck and RV. - This is the same road that would need to be traveled to get to our next scheduled destination at Pio Pico Thousand Trails Park for...

ON THE ROAD AGAIN

Feb 12, 2015 - Menifee, CA

Thu, 12 Feb: Westward Ho! We arose early and enjoyed our tea and a nice breakfast. Once the dishes were finished and our morning rituals complete, we got Carpes ready for the road. Goodby hugs from the Rosas and Davilas and Bob nosed Carpe out of the RV park and onto I 10 west. A quick seventeen miles later we crossed the Colorado River into California, the land of high taxes and lotsa other things. We stopped at the Agriculture Inspection station but no agent was in the booth. After sitting there for a few minutes with nobody paying us any...

Dec 7, 2014 - Where is Noah when you need him ?

We had a early start on our departure of Oceanside on Monday and arrived back at Thousand Trails Wilderness Lakes about a hour later. We managed to pick an excellent site and little did we know that later we would find out why. Our site is very spacious and it backs up to a canal with many species of waterfowl such as Mallards, Canadian Geese, White Egrets, and many, many others. The canals also are stocked with catfish but I'm not interested in fishing for something that I'm not going to eat. - The main reason why I mentioned that we...

Nov 16, 2014 - Wilderness Lakes

After a short drive we arrived at Thousand Trails Wilderness Lakes Park on Wednesday. We have been here several times over the years but have never stayed on the one side of the park with the new 50 amp sites. The main reason was because of the dairy farm 100 yards away. With 545 sites here we always were able to pick a site on the opposite side as the cows. The cows were sold and the smell is gone so now we can pick any of the sites that are unoccupied. - This time we picked one of the new 50 amp sites which is close to the dog run and...

Dec 16, 2013 - Photo's of Wilderness Lakes

Judy mentioned in the last entry that we were "Out of Order" during much of our stay here at the Wilderness Lakes Preserve in Menifee. The first week Judy was sick and the second week I had the "crud". - Yesterday was the first day that Judy and I took a walk around the park together and it's already time to leave this morning. We didn't take many photo's of our stay here so the photo's in today's entry were from our last stay here a couple years ago. We will be returning here in February so I'll take some new photo's then. - This morning...

Dec 11, 2013 - We Were Out Of Order

Well due to the fact that both of us have been sick with sinus like symptom's or just the plain flu. We have not entered a Journal entry for awhile now, but today Judy is feeling like writing one so here goes. I think we are now on the mend. or I have not been outside due to the cold weather here. Yep we are "sun people". While I was down and under Bob was doing all the walking,of our doggies, but now he is down and I am doing the walks. Anyway it is now on the uphill swing. I have not been able to even get to the clubhouse here in TT...

Dec 5, 2013 - Is it COLD where you are ?

I sure miss the 80 degree temps and it's my fault for bragging how nice it is here in Southern California. Currently with the Artic blast that is covering most of the United States our temps are in the high 50's with lows in the high 20's near 30 degrees. Luckily we are on the western edge of the jet stream and not in the direct plunge. - I sure feel blessed that we can travel and escape the cold like in Rio Rancho. Right now it's 32 with 17 low and on Monday the Weather Channel is saying a low of 7 degrees there. - With all this being said...

Dec 2, 2013 - Wilderness Lakes

Since arriving at Wilderness Lakes Judy has not felt good. Sore throat, watery eyes and just not feeling good. Hope she feels better soon. - Today's high temp will be 74 degrees with a low of 40 but that's going to change by mid-week. High's then will be 58-59 and a low of 30. What's this all about.....I miss the Coachella Valley in the Palm Springs area already but we won't be back there until January. - Washing RV's is allowed here and I think I may do it today or tomorrow. I want to get the salt off that may have blew in from the ocean...

Nov 30, 2013 - Setting the Record Straight

I just want to set the record straight that Judy's meal at Joe's Crab Shack was not the Whole Striped Bass Fish plate that was in my last entry. It was "The Orleans" Steam Pot, a spicy steamed assortment of seafood, corn and even a sausage link. She always wanted to order a Steam Pot and she sure enjoyed it. We ate outside and watched a large fishing boat dock in the dark with all it's bright lights, it was fun to watch. (The whole Bass dinner was at a restaurant in La Jolla, a town south of Oceanside, also on the coast.) My dinner that...

Dec 21, 2012 - Rose Parade

Moved North to Wilderness Lakes Thousand Trails. Irma's sister and brother in law flew in from Florida, and we all took the bus up to Pasadena for the Rose Parade. Great seats! We drove up the day before to watch then finish some floats. The parade was fantastic! So close. Taking the bus reduced the stress, and was very comfortable.
