Feb 3, 2012 - First day in Los Angeles, all reunited

Arriving in Los Angeles at 6am to see Danielles beautiful face smiling at us, a very happy family reunited after 7 months. Sad though that Daddy couldn't come, but he is with us in spirit. Went to Marina del Rey and to the Cheesecake Factory for dinner wich was very nice and most importantly for the children (all 3 of them) is that there is free refill!!! Took a taxi back home and early to bed as the jetlag kicked in. To sum it up, a very good day !!!

Jun 3, 2008 - Almost Home!

On 5/29/08 (Mike Jr.s 24th birthday) we arrived in San Diego harbor. After a friendly meeting with a customs official that was young enough to be my son, we were in the clear to leave the boat and dock. We stayed at the police dock next door to customs. It was a pleasant afternoon on Shelter Island where we stopped into some local marine stores and enjoyed a beer and dinner at the Brigantine which came highly recommended. The best part about the afternoon was shopping in the San Diego Mariners Exchange store which is set up as a wholesale...

Tales of Blue Aweigh

May 28, 2008 - Yosemite part deu and Voyage of the LA-mi

Yes, that was a terrible Voyage of the Mimi reference for those of you who were watching. And I'm surprised the refs didn't call a foul! Day two of Yosemite, go! So, it stopped raining this morning, THANK THE GODS, and we managed to drag our asses out of bed and cook a real camping breakfast of eggs, bacon, and OJ. Yum yum. The scenery out here in even more incredible now that we can start to see the tops of things like mountains where yesterday was just a bunch of fluffy, mist-covered rocks. We decided to pack everything up, drive around,...

Apr 16, 2008 - Dockweiler State Beach, Los Angeles

If we went another 75 yards west, we would get our feet wet. The back end of our rig is on a hard surface some 4 feet from a wall that separates the parking spaces from the beach. We arrived at Dockweiler State Beach Park shortly after noon. If any of you have ever been to LAX, you took off right over our campsite. We had a smooth trip down guided by Matilda. As usual she and JoAnn did not agree on routes, but we got to where we were going without incident. It took us a little over an hour for the trip. Roscoe started the trip on the...

Living Our Dream

Sep 5, 2007 - The Grand Tour - Marina Del Rey

Today I took the Grand Tour. I'm going to break it into sections as we saw quite a bit and covered several areas. It was most of the day after all. Let's start with the driver. This one had a lot more life to him compared to the one yesterday. He was full of knowledge and talked most of the time. I quite liked him but he lost me at the end. He took me to the wrong Travelodge after passing mine twice and that was apparently my fault. He bitched about it...then tried to chat me up when it was just me and him on the bus at the end! Wanted to...
