Aug 6, 2017 - NV Boom or Bust

August 3-4, 2017 Nevada – Boom or Bust After spending the night at an overpriced RV park called BNB Swiss in Cedar City, UT, I headed west into Nevada. My first stop was in Caliente, which turned out to be a pleasant little town. I ventured a couple of miles north to the Kershaw-Ryan State Park and boom, it was beautiful. I found a shady spot to park, stopped by the clean restroom, and then hiked the short Canyon Overlook loop, watching for snakes along the way. As I was headed back to Wanda, two employees were moving the water hoses, so I...

Oct 9, 2016 - Pavement Rehabilitation?!

I think a CHP car came through last night and I know one did this morning after I got up. When I went to bed last night we noticed a fly on the ceiling. It wasn’t moving. Margie got up and discovered it was dead. I guess it died of old age and just hung to the ceiling. Either that or we scared it to death. Today we stopped for lunch at another casino. It’s amazing how they keep popping up right around lunch time. This one was Rolling Mills in Corning, California. It has fuel, an RV resort and a nice RV/truck parking area. We both got $10...

Sep 26, 2016 - Lodi California

Spent a couple days at the Lodi Elks before heading to Yosemite National Park to meet friends Mike and Irene. We explored some wineries and local eats and then left. Found out later we had friends who live there. Darn, it would have been fun to spend time with them there.

A Lifetime's Dream

Sep 27, 2015 - Lodi CA – Flag City RV Park

Stayed in this great Passport America park for one night while travelling in California. It happened to be the same night as the total eclipse of the Supermoon (aka Blood Moon). Luckily for us, the clouds cleared and we were able to see the eclipse. It was pretty neat and, since we were on Pacific Daylight time, it happened in the evening instead of the middle of the night. Usually, we’re fast asleep when a lunar eclipse happens.

Retired at Last!

Dec 10, 2014 - Lodi, CA

On our way to AZ and had a great weather day for going over the Sierra's into CA to get warm. About a 3.5 hour drive to Lodi. We were planning on staying 1 night but the big weather system forcasted arrived overnight with heavy rain and a lot of wind...60-70 mph gusts. With that we decided to stay another night before heading to Bakersfield, CA on Friday. More later.

Oct 8, 2014 - Lodi, CA

Headed to Lodi (3 hour run over the Sierra's) with Greg & Ginny (2 rigs) and stayed at Flag City RV Park. Very nice CG to HQ while visiting some wineries and enjoying some tasting in the area. Friends Don & Lucienne from Reno joined us on Saturday staying with G&G in their rig. We also did some dining and visited specialty shops in the downtown area. Found a great Cheese Shop that carried some Wisconsin product which we enjoyed. Time flies and we all headed back to Reno on...

Aug 4, 2014 - Finally on our way to South Dakota

We left Bakersfield around 1100 am after having a good bye breakfast with, Shaun, Melissa, Lily and Mary. Got to Flag City RV Resort in Lodi around 3:30 pm. Nice RV park just off the I-5, but the noise is not to bad. Clean pool and jacuzzi. Nice laundry. $45 with our Escapee membership. 85 degrees and cloudy. Maureen came and picked up Lily to spend a week with her dad. Now we are making pizza.

Jun 27, 2014 - OTRA - CA - Lodi

I'm trying like mad to get this blog caught up and I'm a year behind so I'll just put comments on our "travel sheet" in with no yakkity-yak until we get more up-to-date, okay? Bad Penny; bad, bad Penny!! N on I-5 then CA12 towards Lodi. Easy drive, sunny day. Light wind. Heavy traffic until past Stockton then not too bad. Slow up for what they call the "Cone Zone" (work areas) Small river but big ships in Stockton. Lots and lots of birds to wake up to as opposed to jets in Vegas Cool nights, warm days HUGE dog run area!!! Went to tail end...

Apr 10, 2014 - Lodi, California

Today we started our 2014 sojourn across and around the US and Canada. However, the start was neither what we had hoped for nor what we are used too because the motorhome would not start. Ross had to use the Auxiliary Start system which allows the coach batteries to supplement the starting batteries. Once it started everything seemed to be normal so Ross hit the "D" button on the gear selector and headed out. After arriving at the campground around 1300 and getting set up Ross tried to test the two starting batteries but because of the...

Feb 16, 2014 - Sandhill Crane territory

We tore ourselves away from Bakersfield, pleased that we had taken the time to investigate the area a bit, on a Sunday morning when the sun was shining, and headed north, still keeping our eyes on the weather forecast. It was pretty clear that the Siskiyou was not (clear, that is), and to cross over that route we would have to hightail it up the I-5 to be in position Sunday night and be ready to proceed across first thing Monday morning. Next to us in the RV park a couple from Galiano who were also heading home to see the grandchild were...

Sep 22, 2013 - Driving to Lodi, CA

Today was another driving day - this time from Winnemucca, NV to Lodi, CA. We're heading for Tulare, CA where we'll stay a few days and visit a couple of National Parks in the vicinity. The pictures included here were taken on the way up to Donner Pass where the scenery changed from bare, brown landscape to trees and green. The RV resort where we landed in Lodi is a really nice resort called Flag City RV Resort. All sites have full hookups including cable TV and have concrete parking pads. And another big plus is that this is a Passport...

May 6, 2012 - Lodi, CA

We found out yesterday that the blimp we saw a few days ago was searching for the impact points of a meteor that crashed in the area last week. We arrived in Lodi (just south of Sacramento) Friday afternoon. We stay at this campground whenever we visit Bev and Verle. The dogs love the huge fenced-in grassy dog run that it offers. The weather has been warm but windy. We spent all day Saturday at Bev and Verle’s house. They have two large dogs, and we worried how all five would get along, but it all worked out better than we expected. Tyler...
