Jun 13, 2016 - Here in Salt Lake City

Got to Salt Lake last night around 6:30 where I was going to lay my head down for two nights of rest. My host, Brian, was a real dear. His yellow lab, Etta, greeted me at the door. She is so sweet and has a mohawk down her back. So cute. Brian's house is beautiful with a creek in his backyard. It was great listening to while falling asleep. He fed me dinner, salmon and salad. Very relaxing. The only drawback in his area is no Wi-Fi but I can make do. It's raining here, thought winter was over, but here in Salt Lake City I guess not. The...

Jun 13, 2016 - Today in Salt Lake City

Went to Temple Square and saw the Church of Latter-Day Saints Temple along with a few of the buildings in the Square. All very nice, the grounds were beautifully kept. Lots of missionaries from all over the world were there to help guide you around the buildings and answer any questions you had. Went to eat at this one place called "Blue Plate" and had Country Corncakes. Interesting, made from cornmeal and had a bit of a different taste to them. It was good but don't think I would be ordering these again. Needed fruit, syrup, and butter...

Jun 11, 2016 - Day One - Elko, Nevada

Hi there everyone, I managed to get through today. Got up at 5 a.m., and left Livermore just after 6 a.m. Cool weather this morning but felt good especially after running around all week. Traffic this morning fairly smooth, no accidents, people being pulled over, etc. Got to Truckee, California, near Lake Tahoe, Donner Summit, etc., at around 11 a.m., or so. Needed to stop and walk around. Great little shops, tourist stuff of course but also neat things to collect and give as gifts. Not too many tourists so the shops today weren't so...

Jun 10, 2016 - Tomorrow's The Day

Well packing the car, did my running around, and trying to breathe. Checking things off and hoping to not forget anything, especially my son's stuff. But oh well if I did he can come and get it. LOL Hoping to leave no later than 6 a.m. Kissing the four-legged kids good-bye. Hoping they won't be too bad for their mom. The middle child (Fi) is the one I worry about. He is attached to me and hope he will be okay while I'm gone. Talked to my aunt and she will probably say when I leave, "Now I can rest". LOL

Jun 7, 2016 - Almost Time to Go

Well had to wait to vote before I could leave on my little road trip. Now that I've done that, just doing the last few things before Saturday. My car will be full, mostly with Kenny's stuff. HaHa. He owes me big time. Can't believe this trip is just around the corner. Time has flown by since letting my aunt know I'm coming. She is very excited, at least I am so. LOL Well gotta fly.

Oct 28, 2015 - Days 78-79 Indio, CA to Home

October 27, 2015 Day 78 Indio, CA to Bakersfield, CA We got an early start for our drive to Bakersfield. We had originally decided to stay at the Orange Grove RV Park, 8 miles east of Bakersfield on Hwy 58 but changed to the Bakersfield RV Resort in Bakersfield instead in order to have a nice last night, for this trip, meal at the restaurant inside the RV Resort. We had dinner there before and the food was very good. We arrived at the Bakersfield RV Resort about 1:30. While setting up, Ross noticed that the slide had a broken shear pin, the...

Aug 10, 2015 - Day 0, tomorrow we start

August 10, 2015 Day zero Itinerary The plan for this trip is to visit some of the south-east states. Namely Oklahoma, Missouri, Kentucky, Tennessee, Mississippi, and Louisiana. Yes, I know those states are not what some people would consider the south-east. We have spent some time traveling down the eastern seaboard from Nova Scotia to Georgia on our 2008 trip (which you can access from this journal by clicking on the upper-right pulldown menu) and although there are some places on that trip that we would like to revisit, time doesn’t...

Sep 26, 2013 - Livermore, California

September 26, 2013 Livermore, California This is the final segment of this trip. We left Sparks, NV about 9 am amid partial cloudy skies and 43 degrees. The weather report indicated windy conditions in the San Joaquin Valley and bay area; it turned out to be accurate. But after driving thousands of miles in the wind, what’s a few more. What I didn’t miss was the bad roads in California and the traffic. The traffic through Sacramento was heavy even though it was mid-morning and it didn’t let up for the rest of drive home. At Vacaville, we...

Jun 9, 2013 - Newfoundland, Canada trip itinerary

June 10, 2013 Sparks, Nevada The first day of our trip got off to a slow start. At 4 am this morning, we had cloud-to-cloud lighting with light showers that woke us up. Elden pulled the motorhome out of the back yard to the front at 7 am to hook-up the truck. The weather was a cool 65 degrees, overcast and breezy. We thought we had everything under control to head out at 8:30 am but with various issues closing up the house, we finally left at 9:15. The first stop was at Lodi flying-J for fuel; $3.899/ gallon. Back on the road, we headed up...

Oct 25, 2012 - Last Entry

Oct 25, 2012 We left the Orange Grove RV Park at about 9:30 to home on our final day of this trip. The only hitch in today’s travel was when we stopped at Flying-J for fuel. There were two RVs at the RV station; a toy hauler and a MH. I pulled up as far as I could but my truck was sticking out in the road a little. The camper behind me parked across the street from me, next to another truck that was parked on the opposite side of the road. This resulted in a tight squeeze for the long hall truckers to pass. They must have been iterated. The...
