Oct 8, 2016 - The Big Family Event - September 3rd

One of the big events of the summer was Gretchen and Erik's wedding. It was held at the Genesee Country Village near Rochester. It is a place to experience the 19th century and a lot of fun. Family getting together for a joyous occasion is always good, especially seeing family members that have not been around in a long time. I know Nancy and Gretchen worked hard on the wedding plans for months. Colors were peach and white, with a touch of green. Very summery. The weather was perfect for the day, fluffy clouds with just enough sun to feel...

Oct 6, 2016 - Our Day in Salem, Massachusetts - August 20th

Since this was my last weekend with Kenny, we decided to trek to Salem, Massachusetts, for the day. We had gone to Salem a few years ago in October 2009, when I was visiting Kenny while he was at Chester College of New England, Chester, New Hampshire, which is near Manchester. Since it was so much fun at that time we decided to go back. During our prior trip during October, Salem was very busy with so many people visiting there since it had so much history with the Salem Witch Trials and Lizzy Borden and much more. It was a great day,...

Sep 25, 2016 - The Quilt Show - Is it Friday yet?

Since I had gone around on Thursday looking at the various quilts and vendors, Friday would be the day the wallet comes out and the budget cries a few tears, pictures are taken, and just making sure I got what I wanted and being sure to not miss anything. Here are some of the beautiful quilts that stood out for me. It was either the colors used, the message being said, the quilting (hand and machine), and just the sheer knowledge of how long some of these quilts took to make.

Sep 21, 2016 - I Was In Heaven - August 18th and 19th

On the second weekend I was at Kenny's, there was a New England quilt show that was advertised in several quilt magazines and online taking place in Manchester. It started Wednesday afternoon, the 17th, and would end on Saturday, the 20th. So,(thinking pensively) that I could go while Kenny was at work. Good idea. It would be fun since I had gone to a wonderful quilt show in San Mateo, called the Pacific International Quilt Festival, (PIQF) Show. The PIQF quilt show is an amazing show with many vendors and competition quilts from all over...

Sep 12, 2016 - Rain Go Away, I Don't Need This - Friday, August 12

Well as you can see by the pictures, the drive to Kenny's was horrible. Had to stop not only for gas but because of the torrid rain. It was coming down in sheets, vision was terrible. The drive instead of taking about five hours, it took I left Nancy's and George's around 11:00 am and got to Kenny's about 7:00/7:30 p.m. My body certainly felt the stiffness of driving in the torturous rain all day. It didn't start out that way, in fact it was sunny with a few clouds in the sky at Rochester, but closer I got to Kenny's the worse it got....

Sep 9, 2016 - New Hampshire Here I Come, But First Came Rochester, NY

On my list of things to do this summer was going to see Kenny in New Hampshire and since we hadn't seen each other in about a year and a half, it would be fun to see him. Get to spend some quality time together as I knew we wouldn't be able to see each until hopefully next year. So I was really happy to be seeing him. I left on the morning of August 11th, bright and early for my trip to Kenny's from my aunt's. I wanted to get an early start and left around eight or nine that morning. I stayed over at my cousin's house in Rochester, New...

Aug 22, 2016 - Did Someone Say Chocolate? Part 2

Since this was my last day in the Lancaster area and Hershey wasn't too far away, about an hour's drive, I had to go. Got to the Hershey museum and went inside. There was so much information about the company and Mr. Hershey himself. He was a very gracious and giving person. He wanted to make sure that his workers and families around the area were happy and healthy. He even gave money to his workers to buy a house, cars, he built parks, there was a huge community area with a swimming pool, he constructed a golf course. These things he...

Aug 15, 2016 - My Day at Gettysburg - July 30th

Since I was so close to Gettysburg from Lancaster, about an hour's drive away, I decide it was a great time to go to Gettysburg as I had never been there. The drive was what I expected for this area; lots of green land, farms popping up along the way, weather was great for the day, and just was excited to see part of our history as I never had a chance before to go. No clouds or rain in the forecast. Found my way to the battlefields. Decided to go on the auto tour, they had a few choices like a bus tour and it looked like a guided tour. I...

Aug 7, 2016 - First Day in the Amish Country - July 29th

Just needed to sit down and do some posting. Been busy going to the Amish country, Gettysburg, and then headed to Hershey and then back to my aunt's for four day trip. Lots to do but the time seemed to go by so quick. Got to Lancaster County on Wednesday afternoon, found where I was going to stay. Cruised over to Lancaster and checked out the town until one of my hosts, got home from work. Stayed with this cute Mennonite couple, Sam and Louise, and their two four-legged kids, Sophie and Benny. Loved them the kids of course. Got to play...

Jul 21, 2016 - Time is going by too fast.

I can't believe it has been a month since I arrived here in Pittsburgh. My aunt and I watched the San Francisco Giants beat the Pittsburgh Pirates three out of four games the first week I was here. My aunt wasn't too happy with that but I loved it. That was fun to watch with her. LOL I got to go spend time at my cousin's family cottage by the Allegany River. Got to go kayaking for the first time. Nancy and I floated down the river just relaxing and looking at the hills and luscious trees all around. And even our dinner of hamburgers and...

Jul 14, 2016 - Went to see my brother and his family

This last weekend, I was invited to go see my younger brother, Howie and his family. Since they live in Virginia, I don't get to see them very often. I was excited to spend as much time with them as possible. The kids are getting so big, Andy is already over six feet and he is only 15 years old. It was a nice weekend, we got caught up on things. Just chilled and got to catch up with our lives. It is always good to see Howie and the family as we only get to see each other when I come out east, so spending time together is important to...

Jul 9, 2016 - Fourth of July's Weekend

This last weekend happened to be the 4th of July. On Saturday, Aunt Ruth, Nancy and George, and myself went up George's family cabin at Oil City, near the Allegany River. Fun, relaxing, lots of eating, and though there are no pictures to prove it, I did go kayaking for the first time. Nancy and I just floated down the river for a bit, got out on the other side of the river and did a bit of exploring around the riverbank and then got back in the boats and came back across. The water was warm in spots, but cold in other areas. Still felt so...
