Jun 5, 2017 - Time to head out and head north !

On this day, Dave packed up the coach, Dudley, and headed north for his two day trip to Eugene, Oregon. Notice we said, "Dave Packed Up", that's because Rebecca departed the week before, taking our Honda CRV. She went up ahead so she could attend a church women's retreat. Dave, having been left behind, borrowed his brothers Camry (thank you Frank) for all the running around he needed to do. Well, anyway as Dave headed out of Reno in a northern direction he knew his first stop would be at the Likely Golf and RV. While there he'd be doing...

Nov 10, 2014 - Likely CA

Long day for us,we logged 258 miles. No wind today, but once we crossed over into California the roads deteriorated quite a bit.The best part was almost zero traffic, making it a very stress free drive. Staying at a RV /Golf course along the California Nevada stateline on Hwy 395. Got the whole place to ourselves, guess there are no hardy golfers around here. This will be our last cold day/night,in fact it will be the coldest so far at minus 5C....BRRRRR. Currently 9pm and minus 3... have 2 heaters running, a 1500 watt ceramic running at...

Jun 9, 2014 - Likely Place Golf and RV

The past seven weeks passed bye way too fast for all we did and accomplished it was a blur of activity. But the time has come to move on UP the road. The 195 mile drive to Likely Place Golf and RV was terrific. We worked here the summer of 2011. It's good to be back, but we have a purpose. Dave needs to tend the Geo Cache golf we installed here. He has to go to every location, there are 19 of them, inspect it for location, rocks need painting. After that was finished, we golfed on the big course and had fun. If any of you are coming...

Apr 11, 2014 - A Likely Place

We are heading up Route 395 on the east side of the Sierras, and one of the places we want to stop is a golf/rv resort in Likely, CA. It is called A Likely Place, and we had read about it online and it seemed to be a little out of the way so were interested in seeing it. As we drove along Route 395, we thought this had to be wrong as there could not possibly be a golf course out here in the middle of nowhere. There are no gas stations and the only restaurant we found was a hole in the wall just at the turn to the park. We drive a mile off...

Aug 26, 2013 - Back in the Saddle

We have been without WiFi for the past couple of nights so I need to catch up on my posting. -- John had another birthday on Saturday. We celebrated with a meal out at our favorite seafood place in Brookings, The Happy Clam. John had a bread bowl of clam chowder and I had the seafood combo basket. As usual, the place was very busy, the wait was long, but the food was wonderful. Our friend, Pat, made John a special birthday cake which we enjoyed with them. -- We said goodbye to Pat and Paul on Saturday night since we would all be leaving...

Jul 16, 2013 - The Second Loneliest Road in America

In July 1987, Life Magazine ran an article about Nevada State Highway 50 (US 50) titled "The Loneliest Road." A representative from AAA described this route through Nevada in these words: "It's totally empty. There are no points of interest. We don't recommend it. We warn all motorists not to drive there unless they're confident of their survival skills." I think I may have found a rival. We followed US 395 south today. From the time we left Hines, OR until we reached a crossroads called Valley Station a distance of 114 miles, we passed...

May 29, 2013 - Likely Place RV Park and Golf Course

Spending 2 nights here at Likely. Will be visiting Infernal Caverns. Unfortunately the road leading to Infernal Caverns Historic Landmark is private property and gated. So we went the back road to Alturas and back 395 to Likely.

Sep 9, 2011 - Likely, Ca.

Thursday morning (the 8th) we left Crescent, Oregon (we'll miss it there, just love hanging out at Big Pines RV Park) but it was time to move on. We drove approximately 240 miles to Likely Place Golf & RV Resort (in Likely, Ca). We only spent one night, Pete wanted to play golf, but he over extended his left arm (we think) so for now golf is on hold till it heals up. We've stayed at Likely Place a few times before & its always been nice place to stop for a rest. We did have a nice little thunder storm last night, didn't last long, the rain...

May 2, 2011 - Likely, California (summer work camping)

It was a very easy drive of 190 miles from Mound House, NV to Likely, CA. Thank you to our friends the VanEmmeriks for putting us up on their place for the past 2 weeks. As we got the coach ready for this days travel we both admitted a little apprehension toward what we have committed to on this next stop. It is a 6 months commitment for us. Rebecca will be working inside the golf clubhouse checking in golfers and RV'ers with a few other duties, Dave will be working outside as RV park maintenance, mowing lawns, cleaning up after guests...

Aug 30, 2010 - Likely, CA (an unlikely discovery)

It's Monday and time to leave our fun at Eugene of family and friends but more so it's time to leave the wonderful summer we've had. We've added 6 states to our map, caught up with several friends and seen some of God's wonders on His Earth! Now that all the magic has been experienced it's time to get on down to Reno, and our former home. Our renter has moved out, the property needs to be readied for another renter. We're sure there is alot that needs to be done. There are two directions we usually go from Eugene to get to Reno, I-5 to...
