This little treasure of a lake lies off the Tahoe Rim Trail southeast of South Lake Tahoe City. It is high in the Sierras at 8090 feet and is a 4.4 mile hike in and out for a total of 8.8 miles round trip. The elevation gain(total vertical feet) was 1450. All in all a good days work as our joints and feet attest.The trail ascends a rock strewn ridge of pine trees to a crest and then drops down into a beautiful valley of verdant green grass bordered by willow bushes now turned a gorgeous fall yellow. Sep 5, 2010 - Round Lake & Winnemucca Lake

Just beyond Kirkwood Ski Resort on the way to Carson Pass lay four mountain peaks in a line: Round Top, and the Three Sisters. They are real jewels cut by glaciers during the ice age. The mountains lie in the famed Sierra Nevada Range and carry a historical mystique.aks We left in the cool of the early morning to hike this scenic area. Nov 6, 2009 - Old Town Sacramento and Kirkwood, CA

Old Town Sacramento and Kirkwood: West Sacramento was not a long drive Monday Nov 2 and we made it to the KOA park by late morning. The visitors' center highlighted an hour long 2pm tour, which we greatly enjoyed. Our good friend Libby Culver and her new friend John insisted on treating us to dinner Monday night and invited us up to her Kirkwood home for the next evening.
