This beautiful 1.6 million acre mostly wilderness park was created when the "California Desert Protection Act" was passed in 1994. Unlike most national parks few visior facilities exist here, but what they have are really great. The park does offer two rather small visitor centers, a few established but rustic campgrounds and dispersed camping.
