Aug 12, 2017 - Universal Studios and Diana Krall....Hollywood Bowl

Celinda and I decided to do one big tourist event .....Universal Studios which is located a few blocks from Hanna Barbera where I used to work in the 70's and very close to my old apartment which I think has been knocked down! Lots of new roads! Universal now has Harry Potter World with a fantastic ride called Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey. It was excellent. The effects on all the rides were quite exceptional incorporating 3 and 4D. In Shrek 4D the spiders popped out towards us visually and there were sensors under the seats that...

Sep 10, 2015 - Where dreams are made

The day began with a beautiful walk with Sandy. I am use to seeing the sun rise over the ocean but this was still beautiful. We decided to join the horrible traffic to go see the homes of the stars. This is a one time deal because the traffic is soon bad and we could never parallel park the way these people do, bumper to bumper. I have no idea how they get their cars in and out. So we paid $15 for a parking garage by Hollywood Blvd. The tour was interesting. Some homes are big but some are not much larger than my own. They also seem to...

May 6, 2015 - Last day in LA - non eventful..

Hi again, So this post is for the 6th of May which was a Wednesday. It wasn't a very dramatic day so it won't be very long. Had the same breakfast (you know the drill). But today I had kind of a sleep in because yesterday was such a big day we didn't get home until midnight so I was out of the hotel from 8.45am to about 12.45am >.< so sleep in was until 9.45 am because I couldn't miss free breakfast! I was expecting Another girl to show up in my room while I was out that day. I had a double bed room so she was on the same Contiki as me....

May 5, 2015 - Warner Bros Studios and TV Taping!!!!!****

Hi all! Sorry I didn't post yesterday, I didn't get home until midnight and I was just too tired! So yesterday (5th of May) was the most amazing day I've had in a really long time.. Even better than the day before haha. I spent 13 hours at Warner brothers studios. I know that sounds like s really long time but actually it went really fast. I started my day with the same breakfast that I've had for 4 days now. It then took me 1 hour and 45 minutes on public transport to get 25mins by car and I was late for the tour that I had paid $250...

May 4, 2015 - Hollywood Boulevard 𯘍

Hi everyone! Today was HUGE again. I did so much in one day but today was really great all round! I did Hollywood boulevard and if you don't know what that is GO look it up :) Breakfast was boring, exact same food as yesterday because they don't offer us anything else and I'm dealing with what I was given because it's FREE! On Hollywood boulevard almost every car is high end luxury car, it's AMAZING. For a while I just couldn't take my eyes off the road because they're such high end cars like BMW, AUDI, FERRARI, MERCEDES, high end jeeps...

Jun 1, 2014 - Los Angeles

On 31st we landed at Los Angeles and were driven to the hotel Lewes Hollywood. We realised later that we are staying at the heart of Hollywood. 2 mins away from the walk of fame, the Dolby where famous Oscars are held. Had a general feel of the city and around walking around the hotel area. Enjoyed the food in the adjacent complex with lots of hustle and bustle. Tourists literally crazy on the footprints and hand prints of famous Stars in front of Dolby and touching, feeling and picturing them. It looks like festivity - non stop.

BHUTAN A SHORT VISIT

May 1, 2014 - Day 7 - Universal Studios

Today we headed to Universal Studios. We had the best day. Initially when the bus driver said he was dropping us at 10am and picking us up at 6.30pm, I didn't imagine we would be able to fill the whole day but we well and truly did and could have done more. We started at the Despicable Me ride which was awesome. After that, Joel and Caitlin drenched themselves in water at a Minion play park. On to House of Horrors which Maddy hated and Caitlin loved (Mum screamed a few times). On to Shrek ride which frightened Joely because of some 3D...

Aug 16, 2013 - Around Hollywood

DAY 6 Everyone a little slow this morning so it was around 11.00 before all ready to make a move. Megzy had very cleverly downloaded a cd of an audio tour of Hollywood which we decided to try out. Guy rambled on a little in the introduction but was somewhat vague when it came to actual directions. From prior visits Megzy managed to navigate us to Paramount Studios where we again tried out the audio tour. The guy just waffled on continually that it would have been better at walking pace. By the time we had done several blockies and made our...

Aug 15, 2013 - A Day at the Movies - Universal Style

DAY 5 Up at 7.30 to meet at 8 for breakfast. All a little bleary eyed after a late night but we will manage. Only a quick 15 minute drive into the hills to Universal Studios. Being a good girl today and hiring a mobility scooter. Glad we got there early as I got one of the first scooters to go out and it proved a back saver. Some very excited travelers entered the park after the obligatory picture under the Universal globe out front. Megzy was rapt when the Keystone Cop just inside the gate said hello then said “I found him!” in reference...

Jul 3, 2013 - Hooray for Hollywood

We drove to Hollywood to play tourist today. After negotiating a lot of traffic on Sunset Blvd., turning on the wrong street and running into a taping on locale in Beverly Hills, and negotiating even more traffic on Hollywood Blvd., we parked in the public garage attached to a mall and next to Grauman's Chinese Theater. When I was here before, I could have sworn there was an old rundown hotel there, but a lot can change in 20 or 30 years. Now a hotel is over the mall. We walked out of the mall to the sidewalk and were greeted by a fake...

Apr 11, 2013 - Week 1 - LA - Star Tours

Well today we set off on an open top mini bus to have a guided tour of star homes and First we went to see the Hollywood sign from a lookout of Mulholland Dve (this winds all the way through the hills and ends at Malibu) The sign itself you cant really get close to so the lookouts are the best options. Had alot of different star homes (past & present) pointed out eg. Brittany Spears, Cher, Jennifer Aniston, Bruce Willis & Demi Moore(when they were together), Bruno Mars, Leonardo De Caprio, Jack Nicholson, Steven Spielberg (actually owns his...

Apr 10, 2013 - Week 1 - LA - Beaches

Well today we had a much needed sleep in after 6 Flags yesterday - We headed out to do our beach coast drive. We started at Malibu which we all found a bit of a let down as there wasn't much to see - you could tell the expensive end as the houses all got bigger behind, bigger gates. Then we headed back to Venice "muscle" Beach which was very interesting, reminded us a bit like Bali with the stalls of people selling things quiet often the same things. The outdoor gym was in action as was the basketball & handball courts. We then went to...
