Jul 1, 2018 - Final updates and thoughts
After almost two months back, I finally finished all the commentary and pictures. Between Mel and I we had over 8,000 pictures. Again, thanks to everyone that supported us here in LA to make the trip possible. The Dubois, Vic, Gene, Yvette, Tim, Roxy, Max for taking care of Martha. Jan and Sylvia for shuttling us to and from the ship/airport, taking care of my car including replacing the battery and feeding us our favorite Mexican food on our return. Dee for house sitting, along with our neighbor Mark for taking in mail, newspapers, trash...Jump to full entry
Jan 4, 2018 - Ready to GO!!
Ready and waiting to go in the morning. All the planning is over and its GO time! 200 lbs of gear, consumables and clothes ( 4 - 50lbs suitcases) ready and what we didn’t pack we will buy or do without! Packing is certainly one aspect but there has been a lot of logistics too, especially when you are going to so many countries and for so long a time. It took 4 months and a couple of setbacks to get our visas for the 6 countries that require them: Australia, China, India (the challenging one), Egypt, Cambodia, Vietnam. We researched which...Jump to full entry
Dec 29, 2017 - 1 Week to go! Still packing
One week to go and we are ticking things off the To Do list. Canceling papers, putting utilities on vacation hold and bills on auto pay! The biggest thing of course is packing. We are taking 4 largish bags (2 each). So far it looks like that will be enough. On Tuesday, we each sent a duffel bag ahead to the ship. They contain the miscellaneous stuff like shoes, swim wear, sweaters, scarves, jackets, toiletries, 400 Advil, 100 Pepto Bismo tablets, 600 Qtips. The rest of our clothes fit in the remaining suitcases, but we keep putting stuff...Jump to full entry
Nov 16, 2011 - Paid, vaccinated and excited to go!
Welcome to my new travel journal! In less than 2 short months, I will be off to India on another exciting adventure, and will be celebrating my 40th birthday along the way. It feels like forever since I booked this trip, but it's really only been a few months. Since initially booking back in June, there's been quite a bit of preparation, though: - Flight research & booking: Did you know it takes 25 hours to get from Los Angeles to Delhi? Neither did I! Delhi is actually 13.5 hours ahead of Pacific Standard Time - it is pretty much exactly...Jump to full entry
Mar 25, 2010 - I'm going to Peru!
I'm happy to report that my next great adventure is officially booked! I'm heading to Peru in October on a Gap Adventures tour with my good friend, Rebecca. It will be my first time in South America, so I will be able to cross another continent off my list! We depart on October 9th, flying non-stop from LAX to Lima on LAN Airlines. The tour starts in Lima on 10/11, so we'll have a few days on our own to explore Lima before joining the tour. More to come as the preparations begin, but in the meantime, check out the trip itinerary on my home...Jump to full entry
