Oct 13, 2016 - Frisco. Fresco. Fresno. – they all sound the same to me

All these towns are blending into each other. If I don’t write in my journal on the day, I have forgotten where we were by the next day. This night, we were in Fresno. I called it Fresco. Probably because it sounded like Frisco, another place we had stayed in another night. Anyway, nothing noteworthy to mention on Fresno. However, getting there was noteworthy. We visited the Sequoia National Park on the way. Wowee! It had was is thought to be the biggest tree in the world. On the way, I was contemplating: What makes it the biggest tree? Is...

Aug 2, 2016 - Meeting with friends

Well we are off on our travels to Fresno, CA. Why Fresno because we have friends there who we have not seen for quite a while. Louise & Leroy. Traffic was heavy in Los Angeles but what is new about that. Had a good trip in to Fresno. We met up with our friends for dinner and talked about old time. You know how that goes. Then it was back to the motorhome which is parked next to the house of Louise son Curtis. We have all the comforts of home, beautiful yard few. What else do you need with such good friends.

May 20, 2016 - Lee Vining, CA to Fresno, CA - Yosemite National Park

Yay! The road to Yosemite over Tioga Pass was open. What views we had of the snow covered mountains! Tioga Pass is at 9,970 feet. On the way up and over the mountain, we went through forests, saw lakes, rock faces, and waterfalls. There was snow on the side of the roads. The trees were very tall in places and very big as well. The redwoods were very pretty. There were signs in places where the snow was melting across the road, saying Icy Roads. Luckily, the lowest temperature we saw on the mountain was 38. We also saw a Bear Crossing sign,...

Mar 13, 2015 - Las Vegas to Death Valley National Park and on to Fresno

Time to leave the artificial world of Las Vegas behind and move to more natural wonders of the world, we headed north west from Vegas towards Death Valley, which recorded the hottest temperature in the world in 1913 at 56.6 C or 134 F. Moving into the Mojave desert the road climbs over passes which were hotter and drier to the deepest valley in the Western Hemisphere at 282 ft below sea level. The valley was named in 1849 by gold rush pioneers who thought it was a short cut to California. After barely surviving the trek they named the area...

Nov 29, 2013 - Black Friday in Fresno

Black Friday in Fresno 11-29-13 We got warmed up for Black Friday with a juice called “Cucumber Tang.” Julie decided to head out to a few stores before going to Scott and Kristi’s: Barnes and Noble and Macy's……..on Black Friday. That’s all I have to say about that. We got over to the house around noon, just in time for the kickoff of the football game and leftover turkey sandwiches. Is there anything better than that? We spent a lazy afternoon watching football, talking, and eating. Unfortunately, the previously undefeated Fresno Bulldogs...

Nov 28, 2013 - Thanksgiving with friends

Thanksgiving with friends in Fresno 11-28-13 It’s Thanksgiving Day in Fresno. We are thankful to be spending this day with good friends, but miss the kids and our Anchorage friends and family. We started the day with “Unbelievably Creamy Lush Dream” juice. I’m loving the names of these concoctions as much as the juice itself. Tasted like orange but contained sweet potato, apple, and carrots. Not bad. We showed up at Scott and Kristi’s house around one. We got to meet daughter Kari (I haven’t seen her since she was 10, she has changed a...

Nov 27, 2013 - Bakersfield to Fresno, CA

Bakersfield to Fresno, CA 11-27-13 Today’s day in Bakersfield began with a walk over to a very busy Starbucks near our Walmart campsite for coffee and internet. During our walk we noticed a lot of RVs parked near us all the way from British Columbia. After coffee, we naturally decided to try out a local restaurant we saw advertised somewhere. This place is called “Coco’s Bakery and Restaurant” which specializes in pies. We had breakfast and purchased a pie for the local food bank. We were on the road by 10AM for a relatively short drive up...

May 15, 2013 - Fresno

@@@@@@@ KAPOORS ON THE ROAD We’d never been to Fresno before and I don’t know if we would ever have made it there had it not been for the fact that my husband’s brother and his wife were visiting the US and Canada for the first time. My sister-in-law has a sister who lives in Fresno with her family and we had suggested that before coming to Canada, our overseas guests should start their visit in Fresno before we took them to Canada. Ajay and Neeta spent three weeks in Fresno after their arrival from India and made side trips to Yosemite and...

Spring Break

Mar 28, 2013 - Fifth day

We got up kinda late so we didn't finish our hike that day so we rode our bikes around the place and found a place where we could buy some souvenirs. I got something that said Camp Edison to bring back because I thought it was funny that we went to Edison school and camp. We started back to camp, but at first I thought we were lost and it was getting late. We got back to the camp site and had a fire and got a little out of control but it was safe.

Mar 27, 2013 - Fourth day

I was feeling a lot better when I got up that morning and with all that behind us I was glad of that. We lost a day so we want to get moving so we went hiking on a mountain we saw and want to climb it. We saw lot of things going up there. The fared we got from the campsite the more I could see around me and why we went there. We got really close to the top and saw the valley below us and how small everything was. We also saw that there was another side that got even closer to the top that we could reach from the side we were on. We want to...
