Apr 30, 2014 - Edwards AFB

Yesterday we are going to our last destination in CA, Edwards AFB Fam Camp. We needed to break a travel time to Las Vegas from prior destination and this was in the right spot on the map. We left Three Rivers this morning and enjoyed the views of the orange, grapefruit and lemon groves. Navel oranges are in season so we bought some to eat they are very sweet and juicy. Add to it walnut trees, bing cherry trees, pomegranate trees, olive tree plantations and incredible amounts of grape vineyards. It is amazing how much food is growing here....

Dec 9, 2009 - One more day to relax..

We decided to spend one more day here at Edwards AFB so that we could continue to nurse our head colds and to get things caught up. Well, we haven't shared some of those interesting facts that some of you have asked about. So as of our arrival at Edwards on 7th of Dec, we have traveled 6635miles, we have purchased 510.88 gals of diesel, which has us getting about 12.71 mpg. The most we have paid per gal, thus far, was $3.39 and that was in Seligman, AZ and the lowest was $2.59 in Henryetta, OK. Our nightly camp ground fees have been between...

Dec 8, 2009 - A day of recovering

Today we took it very easy, spent 4 hours at the Starbucks on base using their Wi-Fi trying to get things caught up, then did some shopping at the Base Exchange and Commissary. Scott also worked on our electrical issue, thanks to the camp host, Andy, who was able to pick up the piece we needed in town. We wrapped some Christmas gifts for the kids, and worked on addressing Christmas cards. Nice to have a quiet day to just catch up on things. We may be leaving tomorrow, but not sure, will decide tomorrow when we get up and moving.

Dec 7, 2009 - It doesn't rain in So. California -- haha

We made the drive from Twentynine Palms MCAS to Edwards AFB just in time. Today was the storm that froze Southern California and then worked it’s way east. We had originally thought about taking CA-247 to CA-18 up to Edwards, but because we were below half a tank of fuel, it was decided that we would travel a bit more south and take I-40 over to I-15 and then head up to Edwards. It was good that we took this route instead, since we saw on the news that CA-18 had been hit with several inches of snow and had several accidents during the day....

Nov 23, 2007 - Edwards AFB

We arrived at Edwards AFB today ... where we will be based for a few days while we take a trip into Death Valley Nat'l Park and a visit to my California cousin. Watch for pics of these two events. We'll take a few pics here at Edwards as well. On the way to Edwards, we passed an area that was "loaded" with wind generators. We're guessing there were nearly a thousand of them total. It is located in an area on Hwy 58 east of Bakersfield that is a prime place for wind, obviously. A couple of photos show a small portion of them. We also got a...
