May 24, 2010 - Change in Plans - heading east

After checking the weather at Crater Lake, our next destination, we found that there was already 4 inches of snow on the rim. The forcast today is for 3 more days of snow, possibly 12 inches. We decided to head east into Nevada and on to Utah. I had originally planned to stop after a few hours of driving but we did not find a suitable camp spot. We tried a couple of spots next to a lake but there was nothing available that our camper would fit into. Rather than taking what seems to be the shortest route, I drove back south on Hwy. 101. 2010 Summer Trip

Apr 26, 2006 - On the road again

We made it, the truck got a new Turbo and tested it out last night with a trip into Bishop for groceries,etc. Left this morning and headed north on Hwy 6 over to Nevada and up to Reno, filled with fuel(.33 a gallon cheaper in NV than CA.) and started back to California on Hwy 80. This is a main road but still goes up thru Donner Pass so lots of testing for the truck, and all the big trucks run all winter and use chains so this road is a mess, has road ruts in the concrete deeper than the wagon ruts on the Santa Fe trail.
