(Ron Writing) The past couple days we’ve been staying close to home enjoying our campsite here at Cascade Creek. We gathered some firewood but haven’t built a fire because our fire ring is located in the full sun all afternoon and evening. But we did get the BBQ out and do some grilling. This morning we were going to drive about 12 miles down to Pinecrest where we’d be able to get a cell signal so we could communicate with the outside world once again. Jun 24, 2016 - Stanislaus NF, CA - A Drive Up to Kennedy Meadows

(Ron Writing) This morning it was only 43° when we awoke. We packed a lunch and drove NE on Hwy 108 as far as Kennedy Meadows. Kennedy Meadows is a rustic resort and a campground that is the last place before the highway narrows on its approach to Sonora Pass. For campers this is the end of Hwy 108 on the west side of the Sierras. Along the way we checked out most of the other campgrounds but we didn’t see anything that would motivate us to relocate from the very nice site we have at Cascade Creek. Jun 23, 2016 - Stanislaus, NF - Cascade Creek Campground

(Ron Writing) Our boondocking spot turned out great – no one bothered us and it was nice and quiet during sleeping hours. After breakfast we continued on Hwy 108 to Pinecrest and stopped at the Summit Ranger Station. We got maps and information about the campgrounds and the ranger told us which campgrounds our rig would be able to fit into. The nearby Pinecrest Campground takes reservations and it was completely full.
