General George S. Patton Memorial Museum was established to honor the late General George S. Patton and the thousands of men who served with him at the Desert Training Center (DTC) and overseas. The museum is located off Interstate 10, about 30 miles east of Indio at Chiriaco Summit, which was the entrance to Camp Young, command post for the DTC during World War II. 2015 RV Adventure

Feb 25, 2011 - Patton Memorial Museum

We left Indio on the 25th and headed east on Interstate 10. One of those places we've driven past so many times, is the General Patton Memorial Museum. This time, we decided to stop and are so glad we did. That was an interesting visit. Patton had trained troops all over the California/Arizona desert to prepare them for the battles in North Africa. Feb 15, 2010 - Out of Menifee

We left Menifee today heading for the Lake Havasu area. Again we decided to take back roads and saw scenery we would not have seen taking the freeway route. Then when we got to the Indio area made an “Opps” turn ending up on the main downtown business avenue. After a few looks of “What are you doing here?” we found our way off. Ended up stopping for the night at the General Patton Museum, at Chiriaco Summit, CA which is basically out in the middle of nowhere.
