May 18, 2006 - Yosemite National Park

Our trip to Yosemite National Park was very long today, but we are back at our camper now. Although we are not too far south of Yosemite, it takes a long time to drive through the mountain passes. But it was very beautiful. Our first stop was Mariposa Grove where they have Sequoias (giant trees). We were amazed how big they were! Then we went down another road to see the Bridalveil Falls, El Capitan and Half Dome (both mountain tops), and Yosemite Falls. Chet and I got wet seeing Bridalveil Falls, but it was well worth it. Alaska Bound

Jul 16, 2004 - Seeing off the Folks!

Departing from the company of Ranger P., we headed to for a randevouz with Tina's parents who have been traveling California since the wedding. (We are so proud of them for going it alone without speaking much english, but they had a blast!) We met them in Sacramento to return their rental car (3000 miles of sightseeing!), and then shot straight for Yosemite. Jun 24, 2002 - Yosemite National Park

Yosemite might be considered a religious experience for Phil. Phil Jr. had climbed El Capitan several years ago (it took 5 days), but we had no idea what that really meant, until we were there. The age of instant communications made it all the more special for Phil, as he was able to reach Phil Jr. while we were awestruck in the Valley. Yosemite is a place not to be missed in a lifetime. We may take some of the grandchildren there. It is so breathtaking, but is quickly being overrun with too many people. Let's hope they can maintain some...
