Jan 7, 2016 - Lunch With Joyce and Jack

Normally Jack and Joyce spend a week in Arizona in February and we get together for lunch. When they wrote in their Christmas card that they were not coming this year I hoped to arrange for a get together while I was in California. Today was the day. I drove 40 minutes west and they drove 50 minutes east and we met in Cabazon. We spent more than 2 hours at a seafood buffet ( it took hours to crack the crab legs and get the meat out!) We talked and ate and ate some more and talked some more. Always wonderful to see old friends. By the time I...

Feb 3, 2015 - Central Coast to the Desert

We're running behind on our posts. Guess we got out of the habit sitting in one place. We had a great first day out. We drove straight down the coast & thru LA with no problems. We hadn't been to/thru LA in years & years so it was interesting to see it - once. David said if we need to go this way again we'll take the extra miles & time & go inland. We stopped at the Morongo Casino in Cabazon for the night - free parking. We took Callie for a much-needed (by all of us) walk & then walked to & from the casino for dinner. There was a big...

Feb 6, 2014 - Wind, Rain, Noisy and Wind

Feb 6 - Thursday - We left Hemet and drove for less than an hour to Morongo Springs Casino in Cabazon,Ca. It is a good day for shopping at the outlet malls here, as the weather is a "Leaner".(hand in pocket and lean into the Wind & Rain). This is the largest that Pat and I have seen, and they are expanding big time, 100's or more. We had lunch at an ole time replica dinner call Ruby's diner, pretty good food.

Dec 29, 2013 - Morongo Casino Resort Spa

Well its the final nite of this leg of our trip. We decided to dry camp again in the RV area at the casino. Real nice ride thru the Mojave desert today sky cleared and saw Edwards AFB in the distance. It's a whole lot of nothing in that area for sure. Picked a bit of a bug somewhere or its the air not sure which, damn LA. Not much else to report folks so have a Happy New Years and have one for me.

Sep 23, 2007 - Heading Home---Cabazon Revisited

Heading Home--Medford Oregon to Mesa Arizona Medford Oregon is home to Steve and LeeAnn Fusco , old friends from California-years-gone-by. Our visits with them are always fun and we look forward to a visit from them in the near future! We went for dinner at the Rogue Valley Country Club --not only a beautiful venue but also a chef to die for. Always a good meal. Well.....four months later here we are in Cabazon, CA at the Morongo Casino again. This is a great stop, nice parking lot away from the traffic on I-10, not crowded, and...FREE!...

Jun 1, 2007 - Cabazon, CA

We left Mesa in triple-digit weather and drove across the desert to Cabazon, CA where it was noticeably cooler. The thermometer was reading 103 degrees about 3:00 PM before we reached Cabazon. There is very little to be said about this drive across the desert....not too pretty or remarkable. We had decided to "boondock" the first night and chose the Morongo casino at Cabazon. It was quite an impressive sight, but Cabazon is located in the Banning Pass area where the wind funneled through the mountains and really rocked the coach all night...
