Jan 13, 2013 - Fun Day at Knott's Berry Farm

Knott's Berry Farm was a blast. Weather was nice during the day, but nice the sun went down it was cold. The low for the night was 37 degrees, almost unheard of for so cal. It was fun watching Zoey and Lili ride the kid rides. Zayne and Kyle road one of the fast roller coasters. Calico Mine was fun. We had a late lunch at the Chicken Dinner Restaurant, food was good and they give you a lot. We all started getting cold and tired, so we left around 8pm. Kyle, Mycah and their kids went ahead and went home to tend to the animals. We went back...

Aug 28, 2011 - Day 10

Our first day of 'theme parking' was spent at Knotts Berry Farm - a place notoriously good for its roller coasters. Slightly worried about the prospect, we went into the idea of hair raising rollercaosters with gusto and enthusiasm - only thing was, we probably should have let our brekkie go down first. Thankfully, there were lots of gentler rides intermittent with various shows that celebrated the gold mining, sheriff shooting past, the Peanuts gang and random tricks performed by some really talented professional bmx-ers, scooter...

Mar 30, 2011 - Knotts Berry Farm - Buena Park CA

We decided to spend a day at Knotts Berry Farm - America's 1st theme park, not only is it historically significant, it has some good rides that are a bit more thrilling than Disney's and I knew it wouldn’t be anywhere near as busy as Disneyland. Travel from Anaheim to Buena Park was dead simple, I dialled a local company that sold tickets with transport the night before and they picked us up at the Residence Inn and got us to Knotts 15 minutes before it opened, we were going to a skate shop after the park so I was going to grab a cab back...

Mar 18, 2009 - Friends and Elks

We are staying at our Buena Park Elks Lodge RV spaces taking care of business (taxman, doctors). We are taking this time to visit with friends and family and spending time in our Elks Lodge catching up with everyone. One night we joined another Elk friend, Dave, and went to play Wii Bowling at our friend Susan's house. She has two male Shih Tzu's, younger and very playful, named Spike and Max. Gidget was not sure of those two active boys but we finally got them to settle down for a photo with her in the middle. We attended our Awards night...

Mar 2, 2009 - So Cal Winter

Just thought I'd show people from other states that So. California is not just a desert and a big suburb. The photo of the Banning Pass, or valley, with snow capped San Gorgonio Mountain is the view we have as we descend the mountain from Silent Valley campground going down into Banning. The local mountains, that are mostly brown through the summer and dried out, were bright green with growth from the rains and snows. On clear days like this you understand why people come to California. The third photo is heading home towards Orange County...

Dec 25, 2008 - Merry Christmas

Christmas for Cheryl's family was at sister Juli's house. Juli & Guy were celebrating their first Christmas as newlyweds. As usual all the gals were hustling around in the kitchen together and the guys were chatting in the living room or outside working together on installing a compas on our truck. Once in a while the guys were called into the kitchen to help a little, to open or carve something. It was a nice day and when Grace was said over the meal and thanks was given by the parents for having the children around, there wasn't a dry...

Dec 20, 2008 - Sunset & Holiday lights

We have been staying at our Buena Park Elks Lodge RV spaces and enjoying some brilliant sunsets. One evening we went with our friend Dave Hampton to visit the Newport Beach Elks Lodge which is right on the Newport Harbor. What a view we had from the lounge and patio. The boats were adorned in their Christmas lights and began moving about in the harbor. Not just the small boats but the large commercial party boats were out on the water for some holiday cheer.

Mar 6, 2008 - Just hanging at Buena Park

After our club outing in Buelton, we came back to roost at Buena Park Elks Lodge, our original "home". We've been walking daily, visiting with family and friends, and doing mundane daily chores. We visited a couple other Elks lodges for dinner or dancing, attended Awards Night at our lodge. We worked with our computer friend on our sick computer. Sometimes it's nice just to hang around.

Dec 2, 2006 - Back to CA

When we left this morning we were intending to stop in Indio CA at the Elks Lodge. They have a crew with a portable RV washing system on a trailer and they have a very reasonable rates. About halfway to Indio we received a call from the Buena Park Elks Lodge that spot #1 (our spot) had opened up last night. We asked them to put cones out to hold it and continued all the way in. The traffic and road conditions reminded me of how nice the last 7 months has been. (smoother roads and less traffic) We pulled into our spot and it already feels...

Mar 6, 2006 - Home - Buena Park

At last our final morning, traveling through western Arizona and eastern California desert along Interstate 10. Gidget was enjoying riding on the console between us since we didn't have the GPS going in the laptop on the console. We know our way home.

Jan 12, 2006 - Leaving Buena Park

Looks like we are leaving Buena Park this Thursday January 12th, to do a little traveling. We are headed for Indio Elks Lodge where they have a huge RV parking facility. Then on the 19th we are headed to Quartzite, AZ. for a week to experience what we have only heard about for years. We are looking to leave the south west around May headed for the East Coast. We have heard that cruising the East Coast in the Fall is a requirement for full timers so it looks like that is on our agenda. It would sure help if we could sell the previous truck...
