Mar 16, 2011 - Burgers, Beach, new cell phone

3/16 Day 10 We pick up our Starbucks (noticing the trend, yet?) and meet with Ali (we meet her boyfriend too). She shows us her apartment and then gives us the quick campus tour right before her math class. From there, we navigate through LA’s freeway system to arrive in Newport Beach. Our motel room isn’t ready for a few more hours…but we all have to pee like pregnant mommies! Since the lobby doesn’t have a restroom, and since we have to wait for Carson to pick us up and take us downtown…I pee behind the shed…heehee. Carson takes us to the...

Mar 15, 2011 - East of LA

3/15 Day 9 The ladies find some old missionaries and stroll around the area (oh, Spanish priests), checking out cool buildings, walking around old gardens, listening to an outdoor elementary school assembly (the sound from the speakers carried quite well). We found a very very old grape vine root (I think it still produces wine grapes in the right season). Then we drove around east LA suburbia some more…picked up a few picnic items (including some Japanese beer in cans) and found a lovely arboretum-type park outside of Pasadena where we...

Mar 14, 2011 - Canyon Driving

3/14 Day 8 The ladies wake up and grab our Starbucks and meet Marisa on her college campus. She gives us the driving tour of the school and takes us to her horse stables…I mean, her life. We get to visit with the ponies and I feed them an orange (some horses will the peel and all). Hugs to Marisa and it’s onward. In our persistent attempt and stubborn determination to find a hot springs from my trusty borrowed book, we wind our way through Kern Canyon (which seems to take forever) and find ourselves in a little parking lot with a lovely...

Didn't really take a lot of pictures while at Camp Williams or when visiting the Family. Here are a few pictures of the campground and the surrounding area. a few pictures from my Sister-in-law's home in San Gabriel. She had a Dinner for us and her kids and their families also stopped by. Her Sister's who have known me all of my life also stopped by. We also went to see Junior & Connie in Carson. While there my other Cousins, Joe & Lorreta and Robert stopped by. Needless to say as always we enjoyed thinking and talking about other old...

Jul 30, 2010 - Camp Williams Campground-Azusa, California

Arrived Safely at the Camp Williams Campground this Afternoon. The campground is up in the San Gabriel mountains about 11 miles from city of Azusa. The road was up and down hill with many curves. Uschi was not to excited about it. You could only go 35 mph up the mountain. At night time I only went 20 mph or less. It was really dark and exciting when we had cars coming down the mountain. The Campground is very rustic in every sense of the word. We did have a full hookup, but there is no cell/handy or wireless service so I will be off line...
