Jan 8, 2010 - An Encounter with Elephant Seals and a Castle

After retrieving some breakfast materials from the Whole Foods in Monterrey, Heather and I went back to our beach in Carmel for a seaside brunch. It was as beautiful as the day before. I am not sure how far we drove before be came to Cambria, California but we stopped there and did some touristy shopping. Heather found herself a pretty and expensive scarf from Ireland or Scotland, while I picked up a much needed pair of sunglasses and a new t-shirt. As many of you reading this will be aware of I had a t-shirt with the caption 'God bless...

Dec 27, 2007 - Cariocas, I love. Cariocas, I say good-bye.

Coolio Vocabulario do Brasil: Cariocas: the residents of Rio Paulistanos: the residents of Sao Paolo Falou: Cool, great! I mingled with Cariocas who kept making fun of workholic Paulistanos, and I had a falou time with them all! At a typical carioca gay venue, I find it quite comforting to see that everyone gets along with each other quite well, regardless of race, age, and all the minority differences. Exampe-fully, I don't see that much segregation among blacks/whites/indians in Rio....because they seem to be in an unanimous accord over...

Apr 16, 2007 - A side trip to Santa Cruz and the Boarwalk

Yesterday, our great friends Cathy & Ken invited us to go with them to the Crows Nest in Santa Cruz. Since we had not yet gone over there and hadn't done anything fun in several months since the passing of my mother, we were overdue for a relaxing afternoon. Prior to this weekend, with the exception of Saturday, our weekends were filled with cleaning out my mothers house, which frequently spilled into the week as well. We finished with bagging what was left of the good stuff up on Saturday, and after it's picked up this week, it will just...

Apr 2, 2007 - Sunset State Beach

We traveled up to just south of Santa Cruz for our 2 day stay at Sunset State Beach. We met some great people at the neighboring campsite and shared some good conversation. The state beach is known for its great beach dunes. Some up to 500 feet high. The sites were wonderfully big but the dunes were great. Brian and I did a hike up and over one of the largest dunes to the beach. It made me thankful I've been playing on the StairMaster at the gym. Poor Brian's calfs were scream for a couple days but he'll survive just fine. The California...
