Mar 1, 2020 - Wow, the week went fast...
Last Sunday was as the days before...just close to perfect. We took it easy and spent time in the “den” listening to the music on Tony and Polly’s patio. For most of the part there were at least six on the guitars, one on harmonica and several folks were the singers. It was a pleasant afternoon. We were in the relax and enjoy mode for the entire day. Monday was the time to run around and get the food we needed for Dan’s visit. We went to Sam’s, WalMart and Fry’s. Then it was time to make sure the Bus was ready for company. We were busy with...Jump to full entry
Feb 24, 2020 - Bisbee/Benson/Tucson/ Yuma /Day 8-CC Tour
The trip back to Yuma, covered 527 miles with a few delays, 2 hours and 45 minutes. The first was 45 minutes waiting for highway construction, and it was needed as that highway was rather bumpy. The next 2 hours was at the Douglas border crossing into the US. We had to unload the bus of all of our possessions and proceed to the lineup with everyone else on foot. We packed up ALL of our suitcases and personal items and proceeded to walk into the border station to go through the process of questioning [which wasn’t bad] and then had...Jump to full entry
Feb 22, 2020 - A Beautiful Week
Monday through Friday was totally perfect. Most days in the low 80’s, light wind and no clouds. Perfect weather, especially after seeing some of the weather reports back home in Arkansas. I will get to Saturday later in the post, but we could not have asked for better weather this week. Next week looks like it will be about the same. This will be good for Dan, since everyday he is here next week will be at least 30 degrees warmer than Little Rock. But for now here is what we did this week. Monday we were out and around picking up a few...Jump to full entry
Feb 16, 2020 - Finally, the good weather...
It has been a quick five days. A lot has gone on now that the good weather is finally here. The last five days have been pure “Chamber of Commerce” days. We have tried to stay busy and be out some each day. Wednesday was a golf day. I went to Wellton with two Canadians and my neighbor from Michigan to play Coyote Wash. It started cool...like low to mid 50’s. Being the southern person in the group, I was the only one in long pants. By the 7th hole we were all shedding our jackets and sweaters. It was a purely beautiful day with winds no more...Jump to full entry
Feb 14, 2020 - Finally back in Yuma
We were underway from the Orange grove RV park about 0815. The sun is out and there are free donuts at the RV office. But you have to wait in line....and wait some more because everybody loves a free donut or two or more. No wind today for our trip through San Bernardino, Yeah! But we didn't really realize that this is a Holiday weekend, besides being Valentines day. So lots of traffic, and lots of people heading out with Rv's and ATV's headed to the sand dunes to play. In Washington we go camping in the summer, in California and Arizona...Jump to full entry
Feb 11, 2020 - And let it rain...
Monday was cloudy when Ziva and I went to the dog park. It was cooler and you could feel the rain was coming. As Ziva was running with the other dogs she heard and saw a dove in a tree in the park. She was looking and barking and another dog joined in the first picture. When the other dog went on, Ziva just took a seat under the tree staring at the dove. She sat there for about three minutes until I got her to come on so she could go back to the Bus for breakfast. Sue and I went to a renters meeting and left just as the rain was starting...Jump to full entry
Feb 11, 2020 - Yuma, AZ
Arrived at Yuma Lakes RV park Thursday afternoon. Huge park over 300 sites and a large full time section. Lots of activities, pool, spa and dining. We didn't do any activities except the pool as we did things outside the park. Many trees were removed at some time and a jovial worker decided to make animals caricatures out of the roots (see pictures) Yuma has a lot of history, Indian, Mexican, military, mining, etc. Many diverse small museums abound for history buffs. Wildlife refuges and recreation areas are everywhere. Some of our...Jump to full entry
Feb 9, 2020 - Super Bowl Sunday and beyond
Super Bowl Sunday was a made to order Chamber of Commerce day. Lots of sunshine, warm temperatures, little wind...in other words a perfect day. We were out and around a little after lunch. We tried to avoid Fry’s and Walmart as much as possible but some stops were necessary. A lot of time was spent out in the “den” area. The Phoenix Open golf tournament was on prior to the Super Bowl. It was in competition with the “Jam Session” going on at our neighbors. They were good but it did not go as smooth as the previous week. It seems they had to...Jump to full entry
Feb 5, 2020 - Let the catch up begin...
Last week was almost perfect weather wise. Tuesday was just around the Bus with a few grocery stops. Wednesday was a golf outing for me to Wellton. I shot my second 84 of the week. Back from Wellton we grilled burgers. It was so nice outside. Thursday we were around town on a few odds and ends. But a lot of the time was spent watching the impeachment. It was enough to drive you to drink but most assuredly it made me convinced that I will never vote for a Democrat, as long as I live. Now it is up to the kids to make sure I do not vote...Jump to full entry
Feb 3, 2020 - The Eagle has landed!
There has been lots going on at our house. Besides installing the new flag pole, of course. We went to a car show and to the date festival with Butch and Julie. And we have been cleaning up and purging out the RV. Where does all this dust come from? You can clean one day and the next day its back again. Its the Arizona curse. The weather has been pretty nice in the low 70's lately but pretty windy the last couple of days. This morning I got up and it was so dusty outside I could barely see the mountains. I had to take Zoey to the vet and...Jump to full entry
Feb 3, 2020 - Up and going...I think...
Well I am tying to update the blog. I have been having trouble with my seven year old Dell laptop. We have now decided that I am going to try to work on my iPad now instead of the Windows 10 computer that was sooo slow. I have a few pictures and things to share over the next few days but I do not want to spend a great deal of time doing so...if it is not going to work. I will quickly update you on our weather. It was mid 80’s on Sunday prior to the Super Bowl. We were outside listening to the jam session until kickoff and then grilled so we...Jump to full entry
Feb 1, 2020 - Yuma AZ
Monday morning we left Yuma about 9:30 and pointed the Jeep-a-roo east on I-8, then north on Highway 85, then back west a bit to my Aunt Judy’s house in Tonopah, about 50 miles west of Phoenix. We gabbed for awhile with her and Gene and his son Guy for awhile then we all saddled up and headed about 30 minutes east to have lunch at Verrado Grille at the Verrado Golf Club. The course-side view was great, as was the company and the food, so it was well worth the drive and good to catch up on family things, learn about life in the desert and...Jump to full entry
