Nov 2, 2020 - We made it!

Well it is our last day of travel. We were up and underway about 0815. We are Leaving California and we will drive over the line into Arizona in about 15 minutes. All the truckers know right where the Arizona state line is because in California the speed limit is 55 for trucks (or any vehicle that is towing, including us). There is no such restriction in Arizona so as soon as they cross the state line and it is pedal to the metal for them. It is always entertaining to watch them wiz past us! What a change in weather from yesterday, it was...

Sep 15, 2020 - Winter Quarters - Yuma

/// September 15, 2020 Depart - Williams, AZ Destination - Yuma, AZ A Travel Day: We got an early start today. Nancy is never late, especially on a big day such as this, returning to our "Winter Quarters" in Yuma. We were on the road before sunrise and our route today would be east on I-40 to Flagstaff and I-17 south to Phoenix. The weather was good, traffic was not a factor, even on the bypass around Phoenix. The road conditions were mostly very good. The main reason of this route instead of our usual route of west on I-40 was the terrible...

Apr 27, 2020 - Day 42 & 102...degrees that is

It has been 20 more days of self isolation since I last updated the blog. It has been a slow 20 days. They closed down everything...Pool, pool room, card room, putting green, etc... It is hard to write that you sat outside until it got too warm and then we moved inside. But prior to the really high heat the last few days it has been beautiful. I have pictures of the full moon. It looked immense in the HUGE western sky. I have a picture of Ziva just laying down in the Dog Park. No other dogs in the park most of the time, so there are no...

Apr 17, 2020 - Are we ever coming back home?

Yes, we are, finally! While Washington state had quite a lot of cases of the Corona virus, we decided to stay put in Yuma. Yuma has had a very small amount, so we felt we were safer here. So now that Washington state has leveled out and calmed down, we feel it is safe to travel home. We have decided to leave on Monday, April 20. And we will be traveling through Nevada, Idaho, Oregon, and avoiding California. So we will be home on April 24th. I know that many of you thought we fell off the radar screen, but we are doing well and looking...

Apr 7, 2020 - Day 22 of Social Distancing

We have just completed day 22 or was it 222?? Either way, it is close to paradise as demonstrated with the two pictures of sunset from a couple of places here in the park. I have not updated since there was nothing to update. Until last week were able to go and shoot pool with Pat and Bridget...but the governor and mayor shut down the pool, exercise room, shuffle board and billiard room. So now were are in a narrow pattern of not getting out any more than necessary. Most of the Canadiens have gone home and we are seeing posts they are...

Mar 23, 2020 - Eighth day of social distancing

Okay, we have made it the first eight days of “social distancing”. Part is due to the fact we have washed our hands to the second layer of skin and the other is the Canadians are vacating Yuma rapidly to get home. It seems that most of their travel insurance will be inactive in the US now that the pandemic has been declared in Canada. It is hard to see our friends leave so quickly instead of the slow departure at the end of the month that most had in mind. We have had several leave and head home. Some have already arrived and posted on...

Mar 17, 2020 - Packing up and leaving Thursday am

Due to the current state of affairs with the virus we have decided to cut short our trip. Neither of us want to do this because it stops us from seeing many places on way home. But the warnings and govt issued mandates leave us no options. We will travel home via Utah on highways we have traversed before. Maybe trying to squeak in something different if not to far off course.

Mar 15, 2020 - Wild weather and wild corona virus ride

This week has been a roller coaster ride of emotions. First, there is the roller coaster ride on the stock market. It has been hard to keep up with the free fall and the bounces and then the free fall again. Second, the weather has been beautiful, then rainy, and I mean very rainy. Downpours on Tuesday and Thursday produced almost half the annual rainfall. Totals were around 4 inches. This was a lot for an area that issues a flash flood warning for 0.25 inches of rain. I took a picture from the “den” on Thursday as I sat outside and played...

Mar 14, 2020 - Carrying on as usual with this so called virus

Unless you have been living under a rock then we all know about this life changing virus. We are staying put and carrying on as usual, meaning we are leaving on the same date, and expect to go to the places we have never been as we return home to British Columbia. There has been no urgency for us to return home and no body...I mean NO body in the area that we know has seen any changes in their health. I have scoured the internet from the Canadian govt and BC Govts, they are only advising people currently in Canada from heading south into the...

Mar 9, 2020 - Still winning Bingo and Darts

Still doing good at Bingo, it is either Marion or myself that is somehow coming up with a win every week. We do play 3 times a week, may be that is why we are winning, pots are generally over $45. In darts I have been very lucky this year, winning cash several times, and twice now made it into the finals and coming out on top. It was down to our final throw Sunday night,we had already lost one and had to win the next game. We tied with the other team and it came down to a shoot out, the team with the highest score would be declared the...

Mar 7, 2020 - First week of March

The week has gone fast and hard. Each evening when we finally slowed down we were both so tired that updating this blog did not have priority. Tonight we have stopped a little earlier so it is time to catch up on sharing our activities. The first two days were weather challenged. Temperatures were down, winds were up and clouds and some rain moved through our area. The front that was heading for the central part of the country started through here...just much warmer than the middle part of the US. I captured a copy of some of the clouds...

Mar 6, 2020 - earthquake

We experienced an earthquake tonight while playing cards in Kerrys RV.This was the largest quake we have ever felt.It came in at 5.6 centered 70 miles due south of us near the Sea of Cortez Mexico. The RV started bouncing up and down,it lasted about 15 seconds and that was it.After all these years I always wanted to feel a real shaker but glad we were not in a situation where any harm could come to us or anyone else. Upon looking at the shake locations it mentioned a volcano. That was indeed fascinating to me that one was so close to us,...
