Oct 23, 2017 - Returned to Picacho Peak

Well, our summer travels have come to an end & we have returned to Picacho Peak RV Resort for the winter (we arrived on Wed. the 23rd). It was an unusual summer, we had some great travels & had to dodge the smoke from fires in Oregon & Idaho. It is heartbreaking to hear about all the deviation caused by the fires this summer (especially California). Anyways, we are back & the trailer has been unpacked & almost everything has been put away in the house. Pete has been trimming the plants around the outside (which went crazy while we were...

Apr 17, 2017 - Getting Ready To Go

Just a quick note, Pete & I are gearing up for our summer travels. Currently our den is turning into a staging area (bags of things ready to throw into the 5th-wheel). Have to get the 5th-wheel squeaky clean & ready to roll !! We will be heading out of Arizona on April 27th, our first stop will be Lancaster, Ca (for a 3 night stay...want to get in a visit with the kids & grand-kids). We have to be up in Eugene, Oregon on May 2nd....time for some repairs on the 5th-wheel (our living area air conditioner died at the end of our trip last...

Feb 23, 2017 - Pikachu?

After desert camping we decided to do some R and R with hookups. We went to a KOA south of Phoenix in Picacho Arizona. That is pronounced like Pistachio without some of the letters, not like Pikachu of Pokemon fame. Mike still calls it Pikachu. Oh well. We went to Casa Grande Ruins National Monument. It is a series of structures by ancient pueblo of the Hohokam period surrounded by a wall and dates back to the 13th century. These people used irrigation and extensive trading connections that lasted for centuries. The largest structure, or...

Oct 4, 2016 - Back Home at The Peak

We made it back to the Peak, in keeping with most of our travels...we had another issue on the way home. The trucks dash went black & it shifted really hard (during which the exhaust brake & cruise control went out), this happened twice. Needless to say, the truck is now at the dealership (they believe it is a communication issue....brought on by the batteries)...not enough power to run what they needed to run...weird. So we're getting two new batteries, 4 more glo plugs will be replaced & a couple of other issues will be repaired (just...

Jan 31, 2016 - Picacho, AZ

We headed out US 60 to Florence, AZ to I-10. We have always stayed in Eloy or Casa Grande, AZ, but our favorite park has changed hands and have made all sites 90 degree back ins. In the past we have always had a super sized pull through so we decided to try a different RV Park. We drove onto Picacho Peak RV Resort. So glad we decided to change location. This is a beautiful spot and cheaper than most parks we have been staying in. The people are extremely friendly and we have our own partially fenced paver patio. Weather was about 81 degrees...

Oct 7, 2015 - We're Back !

We arrived back in Picacho on Saturday (the 3rd), on the way here we had a hiccup with the truck & ended up at a Chevy Dealer in Lake Havasu. It seems theres a heater in the exhaust system (module) that went out. So because the exhaust system was not working properly our engine light came on. We arrived at the dealership in the 8:30 ish am time frame. They were able to take us in immediately (of course we had to unhook the trailer from the truck), they hooked up their diagnostic computer & found our issue. The Tech got right to work on it &...

Nov 6, 2014 - Snake Versus Rabbit

Talk about cheap entertainment, Pete walked out onto our patio last Saturday morning & came upon a Western Diamondback Rattlesnake trying to scarf down a cottontail rabbit. Of course he came into the house & had me go back outside with him for a look. Believe me, I kept my distance, the snake may have had a mouth full, but I wasn't going to chance it. This is stuff we've only seen on TV, naturally the rabbit was a goner. We ended up with a few people here in the park watching right along with us. Its amazing how the snake can unhinge its...

Oct 16, 2014 - Back in Picacho for the Winter

Well, its sad to say our summer travels have come to an end, but we are happy to be back in Picacho & all tucked in for the coming winter. Its been an enjoyable trip even with a few Rv repairs that needed tending to. We didn't get to do all we intended to, there will be next summer to pick up where we left off. On our agenda will be Rocky Mountain National Park & making sure to pop into Utah to visit with friends Doug & Phyllis. We arrived in Picacho on the 12th & found some plants didn't make the summer heat, but thats ok....off to Home...

Feb 7, 2014 - Just a Quick Note

Happy New Year !! Pete & I have gone through a few changes this last summer, we bought a small winter manufactured home (which allows us room to stretch out) & at the same time will lengthen the life span of our 5th-wheel. As I indicated in last years travel Log, it is located in Picacho Peak RV Resort (where we spend every winter). On the 13th of February we bought a new car, I have been wanting one for some time now & we finally jumped in with both feet....now its sitting in our drive way. This will cut down on the mileage of our truck,...

Aug 4, 2013 - A Winter Home

Well its been awhile since I've posted anything. We have been really busy here in Picacho, the reason for that is, we ordered a small manufactured home (built by Cavco). It was delivered on June 12th, once put on our lot of choice, there was lots to be done, cement to be poured, awning & steps to be put in place, and of course the never ending (it seems) of moving in. Then theres the shed that has been built, Pete & our friend Jim have been busy running the electrical & plumbing it for a washer & dryer. Today Pete got some help from our...

Aug 4, 2013 - A Weeks Visit with Our Grand-daughters

The last week of July we got a visit from two of our Grand-daughters (Daria & Zoe). It was great be able to spend some time with them & taking them to a couple of Tucson's attractions. So I'm posting photos from Rooster Cogburns Ostrich Ranch, they had a blast feeding the big birds & feeding all the other critters as well. We took the on the Monster Truck ride, they had a blast. The girls also got to meet their second cousin Marty for the first time & to see their Great Aunt Marilyn once again. They met her a few years ago, but don't...
